WELCOME BACK TO BOTB!

Let’s see who won the June 15th showdown.

#BOTB results, WHISKEY IN THE JAR

BATTLE OF THE BANDS (BOTB), hosted by StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands is where you listen to different recordings of the same song and vote for the one you like best. Two “Battles” per month, on the 1st and 15th. (Please note: Effective July 2017, some of us switched to once a month on the 15th. Others may opt to continue with twice a month.) Votes will be tallied and posted the following week.

Seems we have a good old-fashioned blowout, here! 😮 For the longest time, it was looking like a shutout, so I’m grateful for the later votes that came in. Mine won’t make any difference, but, I’ll add my two cents, anyway. First, let me say I like Thin Lizzy’s version, especially the intro and instrumentation. The vocals on the other hand, not so much. Sorry, Phil. It’s no secret that Metallica is one of my favourite bands. From the get-go, their version is more dramatic. James Hetfield’s emphatic, theatrical vocals give it the finishing touch. Honestly, I doubt I could ever vote against Metallica. Certainly not today. Oh well! Win some, lose some.

    1. Hi Dora; We do these every month. Some on the 1st and 15th, others (like me) just on the 15th, with results announced a week later. You’re welcome to join us! Thanks for dropping in! 🙂

  1. I like Metallica as well, but Thin Lizzie edges them out for me–especially when I’m listening in the morning.

Nice try. Maybe Metallica will win next time. By the way, my daughters all graduated from the same high school that James Hetfield attended for a couple of years. We were living in Downey, CA at the time which is where James was from–a.s well as the Carpenters.

    1. I guess Thin Lizzy is a little less harsh, especially before morning coffee. 😀 Think I’ll lay off the heavy metal for future BOTBs. That rarely works out well. (But then, I have to go with music I like as well, yes?) That’s an interesting tidbit about James Hetfield and the Carpenters. Did your daughters ever meet them?

      1. I’d say go with the music you like. Some of us do like heavy metal, but in this case I just preferred Thin Lizzie’s version.

No, none of my daughters ever met any band members, but we often used to pass by a couple of apartment complexes that the Carpenters bought with the money they made off of their first hits.

  2. DEBBIE ~
Well, since you knew you’d be voting for Metallica all along, there never really was any threat of a shutout. Nevertheless, with four votes total for them, it really wasn’t even close to a shutout… although, to those of us watching, it looked like one was brewing for awhile.

I should have remembered that you were a big Metallica fan and that the whole possibility of it being a shutout was really just an illusion from the beginning.

    See ya next time!

    1. Hi Stephen; Actually, I was vacillating for awhile, since I really do like Thin Lizzy’s version, but, in the end, the vocals didn’t do it for me. Love the new avatar! It’s nice to see the real you. That is you, right?

    2. Thanks, DEBBIE.
Yeah, that’s a photo of the me that was in charge this last Tuesday. But I’m always in flux, and I’ve got 59 different personalities fighting inside my mind… what’s left of it. 🙂

      POSTSCRIPT:
A reply from you to my original comment showed up in my Email InBox, but I don’t see it here, and 33 of the 59 of us are wondering why. (The other 26 of us are just too drunk to care.)
