Just another day on the calendar, right? Well, for me it’s been looming large for a while, and my thoughts are all a-jumble. I know, “Age Is Just A Number”, and I’m not usually bothered by it, but this is the BIG 7-0! That’s seven-tenths of a century!
It seems strange. In my head, I feel like 35. Surely, that wasn’t the same amount of years ago?! Regardless, turning 70 is always better than not. Here’s hoping I’ll be around to celebrate 100. Wouldn’t that be a party?!

While I’m skeptical, I find it interesting that so many of the traits ring true. 🤔 Have you looked up your Zodiac sign? Did you agree with the characteristics?
Weird Al has it covered! 😆
We’re not doing anything spectacular to mark this milestone. There’s just the usual decadent breakfast with croissants and Mimosas, followed by dinner out with friends.

I hope you had a fantastic birthday, and welcome to the 70th decade. A lot of history was made on your birthdate; you did a lot of research to make this post special. I had parties for my 50th and 60th. For my 70th, I didn’t do much of anything. Maybe I’ll celebrate my 75th when it comes around (I’m ahead of you in that). We’ll see! I played the Steppenwolf song because my husband loves them. Alana ramblinwitham
Thanks, Alana! It’s been a fun week. I hope you get to celebrate your 75th in style! Steppenwolf is one of my all-time favourite bands too, so I just had to include their birthday song. 🙂
I’m late to the party but still enthusiastic about wishing you a belated happy birthday. You’re in good company when it comes to others born on the same day. I refuse to say you’re old, though, because that means I’m old, too! Your mimosas and croissants look wonderful. I hope you enjoyed your dinner out.
No worries, Janie! I’m way behind with responses. Thanks for the good birthday wishes. 🙂 It’s been an indulgent week and our birthday night out was lots of fun. 🎉
Happy birthday to you! I’ve got mine coming in a few days though I’ve got you beat by a few years. However, my mind age is more like 20. Wish my body would join.
My wife always takes me to dinner for my birthday so that’s what we’re planning this year once again
Debbie,
I love your blog and your post! Happy birthday to you.
I have celebrated at home and I have traveled on my birthday. One constant has been my writing out birthday intentions and reading them out in nature, no matter where I am.
Thank you so much, Lisa! 🌹 That’s a worthwhile birthday tradition you have. It’s too cold here in January to spend much time in nature, though, at least for me. Some people do like winter.
Deb what a fun post! I laughed out loud at the title – Musings of an old broad, lol. I love your attitude, and yes, we still think we’re 35 in our heads, lol. And you share a birthday with Amadeus, wow! Hope you had a fab day and enjoying your night out with friends. That’s what it’s all about! Happy Birthday! 💜🎈🎁🎀
Thanks, Deb! Glad you enjoyed the post. Yeah, I was jazzed about the Mozart connection. 😎 It’s been an indulgent week and I’m trying to get caught up, now.
This was a fun post Debbie and a fantastic way to celebrate our milestone birthday. Yes, you are correct – 70 is the new 50. That is a decadent treat for your birthday breakfast … sounds yummy. I will be joining you in the 7/10s of a century mark next year. That was quite an extensive horoscope – wow! I agreed with some of those personality traits. The Aries/RAM is usually hardheaded is what I’ve heard for years and I agree with that (for this Aries anyway). Hope you had a wonderful birthday from breakfast to dinner and beyond.
Thanks, Linda! 🙂 It’s been an indulgent week and I’m trying to get caught up now. Yes, I’ve heard that stubbornness is an Aries trait, but that applies to many of us, I think. ♒♈
Well, Debbie, Happy Birthday and I hope you’re doing something fun. The reality is we can’t change that each year our birthday recurs, so we might as well celebrate it! 🙂
While it may sound a bit cliche age is just a number, I do believe attitude matters. There are folks half your age with a mentality of a 100-year-old individual. Then there are folks like Ringo Starr who at 84 years is full of radiant positivity and remarkable energy.
I understand not everybody can have Ringo’s drive, but at least he shows age doesn’t inherently mean slowing down like a snail. And, sure, it also depends on overall health, which is something we can influence but not fully control.
Thanks, Christian! 🙂 It was a fun week and I’m all for celebrating birthdays, regardless of how many there are. It’s a bit shocking how quickly the years passed, though! Many younger people I know seem much older than me – probably because I never grew up. 😆 Ringo is a wonderful role model for all of us! 😎
Happy, Happy Birthday, dear Debbie! I understand how age plays on the brain. Hopefully after the newness wears off, you’ll chalk it up to another birthday and enjoy another full year of good things to come. The Chordettes had such dreamy voices. I just Mr. Sandman! I need to listen to more of their songs. I don’t think I know anything else they’ve done. I’ll fix that soon, though. I hope you have a wonderful time. This milestone should be celebrated big. Save me a dance for your 100th shindig. That’ll be super exciting!
Thanks, Cathy! 🙂 It’s been a pleasant week, but things are back to normal now. And it’s so cold outside, but at least January is over. If I make it to 100, there will definitely be a party! 🎉
I will be 73 in March, so three years older than you. When I was 70, I had a full birthday week of celebrations. I might be more reserved in 2025, as 73 doesn’t have quite the same impact. Happy Birthday, Debbie! 🥳 x
Best wishes, Pete.
Three years isn’t a lot. You should celebrate, regardless, Pete! Happy Birthday in advance. 🎉 Not a full week, but there were a few days of celebration, for sure. Now it’s back to the old routine of counting calories, etc. Thanks for coming by with birthday wishes. 🙂
Happy Birthday you divine older lady! That video was funny and so true. I love whom you share a birthday with..Mozart!’ That’s a biggie. The music is excellent and I always l9ve a German tune.
Happy, happy birthday!!! What type of cake did you have? I guess I mention cake because I’m hungry for cake. But that’s a whole kettle of fish, and I’ll stop here.
Happy Birthday Debbie – I think FB sent you a generic one … as I don’t understand it!! I understand the birthday bit and the happy bit – but looks like you’ve started the day well, and have a lovely dinner with friends tonight … which’ll be fun. I was glad to be South Africa and have some hot birthdays … two weeks before you … still I’ve had some great ones over the years … here’s to many more, and while you’re getting there enjoy 2025!! Cheers Hilary
Thank you, Hilary! 🙂 Not sure what you mean about a “generic one” on Facebook… I had a lovely week, with more than one celebratory meal. Now it’s back to the diet regimen. 😆 Hot birthdays in January would be a novelty! I can imagine you enjoyed those a lot. Cheers!

Thank you, Lee! I hope your birthday was good too. I know exactly what you mean about mind and body. 😆

Thank you, Birgit! Donna Lu’s video is great, isn’t it? 😀 Yeah, I was jazzed about the Mozart connection too. 😎
Happy, happy birthday!!! What type of cake did you have? I guess I mention cake because I’m hungry for cake. But that’s a whole kettle of fish, and I’ll stop here.
Thank you, Isabel! 🙂 Not a cake, per se, but how does chocolate focaccia bread pudding sound? Now it’s back to the diet grind. 😆
Happy Birthday, youngster!
Thank you, Clive! 🙂 “Youngster” is not something I hear a lot. 😆
