She was grinning like a Cheshire Cat
Feeling gorgeous and wicked
and wishing that
It would never end…
This was madness. much too decadent
Lived only for the next interlude
Her feelings, so eloquent
It was bound to end…
Flames that burn too brightly are not easy to sustain
The Magic Man was losing interest
and she was in such pain
It was going to end…
She tried a few last-ditch desperation ploys
This only served to make things worse
And now, there would be no more joys
This was the end!
Every (heterosexual) woman should have a Magic Man in her life, at least once and for however briefly!
The Wilson sisters even wrote a song about it:

Oh yes, had a magic man once. Ended too soon, my choice, but the right one! LOVE the poem!!!!!
Good for you, beating him to the punch, Yolanda! 😀 I’m glad you enjoyed the poem. Thanks for coming by!
I had a magic man once. Your poem is a nice reminder.
Love,
Janie
I’m glad you enjoyed it, Janie. 🙂 Thanks for coming by!
One of my favorite songs and I love the Wilson sisters. 🙂 ALSO, I’m lovin’ your podcasts. How often are you doing those?
Hi Karen, welcome back! 🙂 Heart is one of my favourite bands too. As for the podcasts, I haven’t settled into a set schedule yet, but I am aiming for at least one or two a month. Still learning the ropes. Glad you like them. Thanks!
My contribution: I was 27 when I married my ex-wife. I’m sure there’s a connection…
You’re talking about the podcast? 😀 I guess you made your own deal with the devil. 😉
I’ve had that Magic Man. It was wonderful and so worth the short time we had. Thanks for the memory.
Have a fabulous day and week, Debbie. ♥
Sounds exciting, Sandee! 😀 Nothing like that first rush of adrenaline. Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers!
Debbie,
Poor girl! A man who grows tired or distracted as much as it pays the woman it’s best for her let it end because he’s not “Mr. Right”. Mr. Right is a forever and ever kinda fella. Of course, this is easy for me to say because I’m in a secure long term relationship. I know it’s not easy for someone to have the foresight to know her dream man is waiting in the wing. Nice poem! 🙂
Oh, for sure, he’s not Mr. Right, but definitely Mr. Right Now. 😀 These things never last. Thanks for coming by, Cathy.
Deb,
Are you saying this poem is written from personal experience and that this was once your husband? If so, then WOW! I’m so glad he opened his eyes to his mistakes before he lost you for good! That would’ve been tragic.
Oh, gosh no! ? My husband and I disliked each other on first meeting. That eventually progressed into platonic friendship and grew from there. Definitely a long-term relationship. Mr. Right Now is just an expression for a guy to have fun with in the moment, like any port in a storm or two ships that pass in the night.
Oh yeah, I remember now that you and the hubs didn’t like each other when you first met. lol Any time we watch a movie or TV show where a couple start off hating each, I’ll turn to DH and say, “Ahhh, a new romance in the making!” because you know those two are going to wind up together. Your story would make a good movie! 🙂
Yup, we are a romance cliché. ?
That’s the thing about magic men: they are smart enough to leave before we’re done with them.
I LOVE your take on it, Jen! ? Smart woman, you are. 😀 Thanks for coming by today.
Awww, a relationship that bit the dust but I think she deserved it!
It was bound to end! 😉 Thanks for coming by, Eugenia.
Great poem full of those feelings of a romance that you know is not going to last so you enjoy every moment while you can and that song sure is nostalgic, too, Debbie. Ah, yes, the Magic Man. I had one of those one summer. He was all chivalrous, romantic, full of fun and poetry, writing about my hair being like the colour of autumn leaves. He swept me off my feet literally as he was a helicopter pilot on an Arctic expedition to Ellesmere Island that I went on when I was in the military. For the whole time of the expedition we were the show for the camp to watch and he played his role perfectly. When we returned to Ottawa and fall came, he rode off into the sunset never to be seen again. I kind of had a feeling it would go like that since he was already married and in the process of leaving his wife. He started school at Algonquin and quit to go back flying helicopters. He was a great big kid. Lots of fun in the moment but not good long term. Sorry to hijack your page here but it was so nostalgic to write about. Ah, the memories!
Nice to see you, Cathy. Thanks for sharing your own “Magic Man” story, which you’ve summed up perfectly – fun in the moment. 🙂
An excellent offering Debbie and I am sorry for being late to comment on this one, to be honest I have now turned off all the settings on my Space to eliminate all those ridiculously high numbers of e mails sent via our WP and now my inbox resembles a Ghost Town, which is just how I like it to be 🙂 The only drawback is that I never know when anyone has written a new posting 🙁
Soooooooooo if I am later to add something you know why, but I will always get here at some stage 🙂 😉 🙂
Have a lovely rest of weekend Debbie and be naughty 😉

Thanks for dropping by, Andro. I completely understand about the notifications, as I find my inbox similarly overwhelmed and have been thinking of doing the same thing. Glad you enjoyed the post and there’s no hurry. I have been lagging in that area as well. My excuse for the moment; was away for the weekend. Cheers!
Yeah – – once in a while you have to go to the secret drawer and get some magical pieces out! Your posts are a pleasure and magic all by itself, Debbie.
Thank you, Karin. I do believe my “writing mojo” has returned! 😀
Hi, Debster!
Creativity +1. It’s all about the magic and that works both ways in any relationship.
In other words… ‘Cool Beans!’.
Thanks, Jan! Really appreciate your comments. 😀
I’d say your writing creativity is being unleashed! Well, done!
Thank you SO much! I really appreciate it and yes, slowly but surely, the muse is coming back! YAY! 😀
Impessive, young lady. Impressive!
Well, thank you very much, young man and a Happy Birthday to you, (for Saturday). 😀
