No, this isn’t a spelling error. “Internat” is German for boarding school,
which is where I ended up for the 68/69 school year.

We were living in Germany at the time. My mother and I could not get along, which was par for the course. Bound to happen, when you have a rebellious, independent-minded teenager sharing quarters with a neurotic, perfectionist control freak. (Sadly, as I got older, these traits were also self-evident, albeit to a lesser degree.)
My father did not participate much in my upbringing and generally went along with whatever my mother wanted. Easier for him that way. She kept threatening to ship me off to boarding school, (the one in Switzerland her friend’s kids were attending), and I started thinking: “Wouldn’t it be nice to get away from here and be able to do what I want?”
I was in for a rude awakening!

Oh wow, I bet you were devastated–and scared.
Definitely! I thought life would be free and easy away from home. Then, WHAMMO! It gets better though, (for awhile). Thanks for reading. 🙂
It’s like some of those old movies I’ve see. I want to read more though I’m sorry you went through this nonsense, and may I say abuse.
Don’t feel sorry, Paul. It was a unique and mind-broadening experience! Thanks for reading and sharing it on Facebook, also. Hope you like Chapters Two and Three, as well. 🙂
Hey I always like a good adventure story
and this one has such an appealing wickedness
to it that is telling me NOT TO MISS OUT on
the second part, but if you could just give me
a nudge when you add it that would be greatly
appreciated 🙂 😉 I also like all of your chosen
pictures on this one too, and that Gestapo
woman looks real mean so I will be watching
out for that old bat 🙂 Oops did I say Bat, well
I will have to think of another one, bats are a
friendly and most wonderful creature, unlike
Miss. Sourpants 🙁 lol
Have a wicked evening Debbie 😉

Nudging now……..part two has arrived. Thanks for reading! 😀
That’s something I need to do too, I guess.. On the other hand, maybe not? There would be to many pages to read… 😉
You SHOULD write an autobiography, Jan! Just take it one step at a time, as I am. This is just a small chapter in a long life. I’m betting you are younger than me! 😉
It is a wonderful read and a funny and easy to digest “diary”. I am looking forward to the following parts.
Thank you, Karin. Am working on chapter two in my head.
Great combination of story and images, Debbie! Go on……..
Thank you G! I really appreciate your interest and all the positive comments. ((HUGS)) Chapter II is percolating in my head. 😀 Have a great weekend, my friend!
