Welcome back! It’s time to announce the results for May 15th’s BOTB post.

Battle of the Bands BOTB

BATTLE OF THE BANDS (BOTB), hosted by Far Away Series and StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands. is where you listen to different recordings of the same song and vote for the one you like best. Two “Battles” per month, on the 1st and 15th. Votes will be tallied and posted the following week.

This round pitted Detroit rockers Frijid Pink against
California singer/songwriter/band The White Buffalo.

They were running neck and neck for awhile and it was a tough choice for me, as I love both versions. I still have the original Frijid Pink 45, purchased while visiting my grandparents in Germany in 1970. It’s a classic “crank it up, roll down the windows, slam your foot on the accelerator and barrel down the highway” kind of tune that makes me feel so alive! On the other hand, White Buffalo’s version gave me goose bumps from the first line (that incredible baritone!) and stirred all my emotions. Not only that, it led me to Sons of Anarchy, which became one of my favourite TV shows of all time. Read more about that HERE. For these reasons, my vote goes to The White Buffalo.

This was my first experience as a participant of Battle of the Bands and I loved it!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to vote and comment.
Hopefully, as time goes on and we get to know each other better, the turnout will increase.

Here’s the winner once again, but with a different video, showing scenes from Sons of Anarchy:

  1. I’m going to check out “Sons of Anarchy”. There is just too much good drama available. You picked an interesting battle of the bands. I’m looking forward to your next one.

  2. That was a close battle! I liked both versions, though I voted for the second (the winner:). However, I can easily see this one going both ways.

Look forward to whatever you’ve got planned for the 1st!

  3. Hi Debbie. Wow, I loved your battle. All of the versions were so interesting – loved the history you provided!
Honestly, I don’t think I left a message even tough I used to vote tool. I can’t remember who I voted for this time. Next time I’ll do better!!! Glad you joined. See you on June 1st.

  4. I’ve never seen that show but heard good things about it. I’m so familiar with the original version of the song, it was fun to hear another take on it.

    1. It’s completely riveting, Nick and the soundtrack is fantastic! 😀 Did you see the original battle? There was a hard rock version by Frijid Pink, as well. Thanks for dropping by and have a good weekend. Cheers!

  5. Hey Debbie, great debut. There is never really a ‘bad’ BATTLE. Everyone has their own taste and the votes in these certainly reflect that. If there is one thing I know for sure about BOTB it’s that ‘I know nothing!’ Glad to have you on board. see ya again on June 1.

    1. Glad you enjoyed my inaugural post, FAE. I’m loving this so far and have already written the next one. 😀 Yes, it all comes down to matter of taste. It was interesting to see that one battle had a unanimous decision; surprising! Thanks for starting this fun blogfest. See you soon.

    1. That pie chart is part of the same website that generated the polling widget. It is pretty cool, for sure. I’m loving this so far and can’t wait for the next one! It’s already written. 😀 Have a good weekend!

    1. Music is one of my biggest passions and I’m loving this BOTB blogfest, Myke. 😀 I also love graphics, as you can see, so it’s all great fun. Thanks for dropping by. Have a good weekend!

  6. Hi, Debbie! Way to go! This was an excellent first band battle and I love the pie chart. My horse didn’t win and I admit that I was somewhat surprised by that, but it’s all good. I tend to favor the hard stuff, music that inspires me to put the pedal to the metal. Other people respond to music that stirs the emotions. I congratulate you on choosing two worthy contenders and having the vote turn out so close. Enjoy your weekend, dear Debbie!

    1. Hi Shady; I had a hard time choosing, because I’m a “pedal to the metal” type from waaaay back. 😀 Emotional response won out, this time. Glad you enjoyed the post. I’m loving BOTB! You have a great weekend, too. Cheers!

  7. DEBBIE ~
That was a pretty tight race and a heckuva debut BOTB installment. You even turned me on to my NEW favorite version of this classic song, so THANKS for that!

I’m glad you enjoyed BOTB and I look forward to your next Battle on June 1st.
