For once, there were no doggie house guests booked in for the weekend, and, as much as I love them all, it is nice to have some freedom, occasionally.
On the spur of the moment, hubby and I decided to head down to our favourite getaway spot, Niagara Falls. It’s only a short, 45-minute drive and we’ve been going there regularly, since our honeymoon in 1973.
The last time we went was for my birthday in 2012. The yearly “Festival of Lights” was still going on and I made a video from our photos. That was the first time we’d ever been there in the winter. Pretty spectacular!
Even though I posted it not too long ago, I think it deserves another viewing. Not bad for a first-ever attempt, yes?
We stayed at the Four Points Sheraton and our room had a view of the Falls. No matter how many times we’ve seen that it never gets old!
It’s still on the chilly side in these parts, so, I was happy to know there’s an indoor walkway to the casino. Not that we’re big gamblers at all, but, it is fun to stroll around and try out a roulette wheel or slot machine, here and there. You never know! 😉
Have you ever been to Niagara Falls? Please share your experiences. Would you like to go? I’d be happy to answer any questions, but, those may have to wait until we get back.
Cheers!

The Falls are truly stunning! We’ve been there several times and you’re right, they just never fail to take my breath away.
We’ve been dozens of times and it never gets old! Thanks for visiting, Loy. 🙂
Niagara Falls is so beautiful. I bet the last time I was there though was sometime around 1973 as well. Everytime my parents had guests over from Europe my father would take them to Niagara Falls for a day trip. We did do the walk under them once as well. So cool. Hope you enjoy your day there 🙂
Thanks, Sicorra, we did enjoy our day, with one sad note; finding out our favourite restaurant had closed. Just had to write another post about that. 🙁 Yes, it is the “go to” place for our European visitors as well. Thanks for visiting and have a great week! 🙂
My gramma is from Buffalo, so mom was at the falls many times as a kid, she says the Canadian side is the best. Maybe someday we will take a road trip out there so I can see it from a dog’s point of view?
That would be great, Emma! 🙂 Niagara Falls has a lot of beautiful parks. The Canadian side is better, but the U.S. side is good too. Thanks for visiting and have a great week.
Hi Debbie,
Lovely pictures, and though I’ve never been to Niagara Falls but I’ve read a lot and seen many videos of it our end. It surely is a worthwhile place to visit. Nice video as well. 🙂
Thanks for sharing this with us and have a nice time 🙂
Glad you enjoyed the post, Harleena. Yes, definitely a worthwhile place to visit and so much more spectacular in person. Perhaps one day you’ll get there. 🙂 Thanks for visiting and have a great week.
I am so embarrassed that I have never been to Niagara Falls — especially because I have been to Iguazu Falls in Argentina. I mean, we could drive 408 miles from our home in Philadelphia, PA, USA to Niagara Falls in less than 7 hours according to Google Maps. Flying distance from Philadelphia to Buenos Aires, Argentina is 5,237.2 miles—and then you have to switch to another airport to fly to Iguazu. (I guess it’s a little like a Philadelphian who has never visited the Liberty Bell. Shocking!)
Thanks for visiting my blog. 🙂 Iguazu Falls must have been amazing too! It’s never too late, you know. You can still visit Niagara, sometime in the future. Have a good weekend.
