Welcome to
Music Monday
This week’s feature is HEART.
Seattle sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson are the “Heart and Soul” of the band Heart, which has seen other members come and go over the years. Ann’s powerhouse vocals and Nancy’s incredible guitar licks make for a formidable combination. They will be inducted into the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 18.
Long overdue, in my opinion!
They first came to fame after moving to Vancouver, Canada, where they recorded their debut album, “Dreamboat Annie”, in 1976. It produced three hit singles: “Crazy on You”, “Dreamboat Annie” and my favourite, “Magic Man”. (This song inspired me to write a poem, years later.)
Their ninth album, “Bad Animals”, released in May 1987, produced this number one hit:
Heart has had a recent resurgence. In 2010, they released a new album, “Red Velvet Car”, which was their first top 10 album in 20 years.
They launched a cross-Canada tour in 2011 for the first time in 30 years and we were fortunate enough to see them twice that year; the second time as the opening act for Def Leppard.
Their output continued, with the release of “Fanatic” in October 2012.
Heart recently announced a new “Heartbreaker Tour“, with special guests Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience, to commence in June. Should be amazing, because Heart also does some scorching Led Zep covers! We’ll be there again, when they come back to Toronto on Jul. 23. Can’t wait! ♥

I’ve never seen them live Debbie so congrats on that. I’ve always enjoyed their music but they weren’t one of my favorites. Rock on ladies though and they deserve to be inducted into the hall of fame. Finally!
Great vids you shared.
~Adrienne
Thanks for visiting and glad you enjoyed the videos, Adrienne. I’m an old “rockchick”, going back a long way, but, everyone has different tastes in music. What are your preferences? Perhaps I can dedicate a Music Monday post to something you really like. Have a great weekend. 🙂
I grew up on rock-n-roll too Debbie. I was more into Boston, Journey, AC/DC, Melissa Etheridge, ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughn, those types of bands. I got into country during high school but I really really love blues/rock now. I’m into more local bands but you can’t go wrong with that combination. Oh yeah, rock on baby!!!
I like most of those too Adrienne and absolutely love Blues/Rock! Have a rockin’ good time this weekend. 🙂
Hi Debbie,
It’s the first time I’m listening to Hearts – and they are good – loved the selection of videos here too. I guess I am more into talking about hearts than hearing it out 🙂
Thanks for sharing, and have a nice week ahead 🙂
Glad you enjoyed the band Heart, Harleena. Yes, the heart is definitely your area of expertise, I’d say. 🙂 Thanks for visiting!
Wow, I was stunned to read that they hadn’t been inducted yet! They Rock!!
I know! It’s way overdue.
Ha! My favorite Heart song? Dog and Butterfly.
I saw them in the early 80s. What a show! I actually went to see Kansas– Heart opened for them. The Wilson sisters blew Kansas right out of the saddle! And Kansas is my all time favorite band–I’ve seen them probably 20 times. Anyway, lol, I am a big fan of Heart. 🙂
Sounds like you’re a fan, Teresa. 🙂 Went to see Def Leppard in 2011, primarily because Heart was opening for them. LOL (Have to say though, that I am now a real fan of Def Leppard, based on that concert. Before, it was more of a casual thing.) Wow – seeing Kansas 20 times is real dedication! I’ve seen Rod Stewart about 15 times, but, he’s too expensive now. It would be different if I’d never been, like with the Rolling Stones. Going to see them on June 6 and the ticket prices were ridiculous for lousy seats, but, it’s a Bucket List item! Thanks for visiting.
I would love to see Heart in concert. I especially like the old songs.
They are amazing live, Joyce, and always play a lot of the older material. You should go if you get the chance. The “Heartbreaker Tour” link has the full schedule. Thanks for dropping by! 🙂
Another great selection Debbie! I’ve been listening to Heart…well I won’t say how long but it’s been a long time 🙂
My favorite songs are Heartless and Straight On. Those ladies rock! Thanks for getting my day going!
Ha! 😉 I’m older than you and have been listening to Heart since their first single came out in 1976. They always put on a great live show too! Glad you enjoyed this, Corina! 🙂
What can i say?!!
Awesome!!!
Happy MM!
