WELCOME BACK TO BOTB!
It’s time to announce the results of the April 15th showdown.
BATTLE OF THE BANDS (BOTB), hosted by StMcC Presents Battle of the Bandsis where you listen to different recordings and vote for the one you like best. Two “Battles” per month, on the 1st and 15th. (Please note: Effective July 2017, I switched to once a month on the 15th only. This will allow me more time to share other types of material with you.) Votes will be tallied and posted the following week.
The results of this battle completely surprised me! I thought it would be a close one, but, apparently, the blowout curse is alive and well. Most of you preferred the Canadian band, Theory (Of A Deadman), over the American Idol winner, Phillipp Phillipps. I actually like both versions and have been a fan of Phillips since his first Idol audition. That said, Theory’s rendition resonated just a tad more, especially the power of Tyler Connolly’s vocals. Here’s how it played out:

Yes, DEBBIE, I also find this outcome surprising. I mean, the Phillip Phillips version definitely added some intensity missing from the TOAD cover, which sounded so much like the original that one might as well be voting for Chris Isaak. As mentioned in my vote comment, I just don’t get that. Copying someone else’s art is not being an artist. Oh, well… I am nearly always out of step with mainstream viewpoints. I’m marching to some drummer that apparently only I can hear. Ha!-Ha! 🙂

You weren’t kidding, your showdown turned out as lopsided as mine. I was on the wrong end of your battle. I really like Philip Philips. I figured he would do better than this, though. Thanks for sharing the results. Have a bandtastic week. I’m gonna need to set out the next BoTB out. DH needs to have oral surgery again plus I need just a few days down after the A2Z Challenge ends for regrouping. I’ll be back for the mid-month round…I hope. 😉
I didn’t expect this battle to be so definitive either and thought PP would get a lot more votes. His rendition was good, but there’s something about the vocal tone of Theory’s lead singer that appealed to me just a hair more. Oh well, we’ll see what happens next time. Don’t blame you for sitting the next one out. A to Z takes a lot out of you! I only do BOTB once a month on the 15th, anyway. Here’s hoping all goes well with your DH’s procedure!
