THIS IS A TEST POST. AFTER THE CRASH COMES RESURRECTION

22 CommentsBlog-related, Computers and Internet, Life

UPDATE AUGUST 3: It looks like things are fully functioning once more. Whew! This was a case of a burgeoning 8-year-old website having too much material and exceeding the hosting company limits. For awhile, I was tempted to give up on the whole ‘webmaster’ gig, but going back to a free template would be too restricting after all this time. I’ve been the ‘MASTER OF MY OWN DOMAIN’ (wasn’t that an episode of Seinfeld? 😉 )for over four years now and love the freedom! (Not to mention the invaluable education, which is often borne of necessity. Web designers charge a fortune.)

In case you haven’t heard, The Doglady’s Den went down this weekend (July 29, 2017). It was a spectacular crash and I’m working hard to get things back to normal. We’re almost there, but it will take a few more days. There’s still an issue with images and some other things. Thank you all for your patience! It will get sorted out, hopefully soon! It appears that posts and comments are functional now.

This post was originally for testing purposes only,
but I’ll leave it up, thanks to all of you who responded.

Wishing everyone a good weekend.

Tomorrow, August 4th will be our 44th wedding anniversary. Can you believe it??!

1973-2013

Cheers!

Debbie

  1. Wow, didn’t know it crashed. Sorry that happened. Deb. Well, at least, it’s almost back to normal. Reminds me again to make sure I have copies of stuff I post…

    1. Thanks, Bren. This was the worst experience I’ve had, so far, but now the site is leaner and quicker. Had to delete over 200 old posts! 😮 They wanted me to go to more expensive hosting, (of course), but I’m not doing that!

  2. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY DEBBIE and HUBBY! 44 years: wowsa! That’s awesome. Especially in light of all the naysayers 44 years ago. You guys sure proved them wrong! Love that! So happy for you. This is a great weekend to celebrate. Have a blast.

And so glad to hear the crash has you rebounding. Tech issues suck. I empathize completely.

I’m a little late getting to your posts: my mom arrived last Wednesday, along with my brother and sister-in-law. We’ve been enjoying all of us being together. The truck with all my mom’s furniture and “stuff” just arrived TODAY so we were at her new apartment all day working while the guys unloaded the truck. We came home tired, ordered a pizza, I was in pain and just took a shower and hit the bed. Tomorrow we start the unpacking… Yikes! Will be a busy week for sure so just know what’s going on in case I miss a post or two. Things should settle down in a week or so…

Talk soon. Again, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Thrilled for you guys and this milestone. 44 is a great number!!!

    XOXO

    1. Thank you so much, Michele! We can’t believe how quickly the time has passed. 😮

The website crash was a stressful experience, but I learned a lot while trying to figure out how to fix it. There are still some issues with images that will hopefully get sorted out in the next week.

You must be so happy to have your Mom moving close by! 😀 Enjoy your family reunion but don’t overdo the heavy lifting. The older we get, the longer it takes to recover. 😛

No worries about missing posts. I’m not really in full swing with blogging either, but will definitely do something for the next BOTB.

      Great to see you! ((HUGS))

  3. Diedre took my comment… well, the part about the scorpions, not the bears.
Congratulations on getting it all back together, Debbie.
    Tennessee loves you!

    1. Thanks, diedre. 🙂 I know, there are many more serious things in life to worry about, but this website has been my ‘baby’ for the last 8 years. Still working on putting it back in order. Thanks for dropping in. Apologies for being otherwise absent from social media at the moment.

    1. Leprechauns would have been preferable, John. 🙂 This was a case of an 8-year-old website with too much data, exceeding it’s hosting limits. Sometimes, I’m so tempted to go back to WordPress.com, but then I remember how restrictive it is. Nah! Once you’ve tasted self-hosted freedom, it’s hard to go back. Thanks for checking out the situation. Apologies for being otherwise absent on social media at the moment.
