Welcome back to #BOTB!
Time to announce the results of the Oct. 15th showdown.
BATTLE OF THE BANDS (BOTB), hosted by StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands is where you listen to different recordings of the same song and vote for the one you like best. Two “Battles” per month, on the 1st and 15th. Votes will be tallied and posted the following week.
♫ A bewitching Halloween offering ♫
This battle wasn’t quite as close as I thought it would be. Here’s how you voted:
Sam Gopal
Arlee, Birgit, Cathy, Cherdo, Diedre, Dixie, Janie, Jeffrey, Michele, Robin, Shady
Total: 11
~~~~~~~~
Dr. John
C.W. Martin, John, Mary Lou, Mike, Myke, Pat, Stephen
Total: 7
Once again, my vote won’t make a difference, but I’ll add it anyway. Psychedelic rock is one of my favourite genres and I thought Sam Gopal did a great job. Loved the tabla! On the other hand, I’m completely enamoured of killer guitar riffs, especially blues, and deep voices so, it has to be Dr. John. Too bad this doesn’t help him. Oh well, he lost to a formidable opponent.
The winner is:
SAM GOPAL
First results I’m checking and it’s a win for me! 🙂
Does anyone else consider it a “win” when their pick is declared the winner?
I think most people are pretty happy when their choice wins. 🙂 Congrats!
I am getting worse and worse at these contests.
I was on the losing side here too, although I do like the winning version as well. Just not quite as much. Those bluesy guitar riffs get to me, every time! 🙂
Rock and Roll Girls always gravitate toward the guitar players. 😉
Yes, indeed! 😀
3-vote margin of victory? GOOD Battle! When I voted, it looked like The Good Doctor was getting his clock cleaned. Glad to see he kept it very close in the end.
Yes, I’m glad Dr. John was able to make it a good battle. He was my choice as well. 🙂 Thanks, Stephen. See you on Nov. 1st!
I always like to see the results. 🙂
I hope you enjoy reading 30 Seconds Before on your upcoming trip! It is a short novella, but if you haven’t read 30 Seconds (the next story), it’ll give you more to read. 🙂
I have both ebooks installed on my tablet, Chrys. Looking forward to them! 🙂 Thanks for dropping in. There’s a new BOTB coming up on Tues., Nov. 1
By some miracle, I’m picking the winners this round! Nice job, girl!
Glad you enjoyed it, Cherdo. 🙂 Always nice to pick a winner.
I’m glad Sam Gopal won. I really liked his version.
Such a great song!
That was a good battle too…
Michele at Angels Bark
That was an interesting find, for sure! The entire Sam Gopal album is good (see below, under Shady’s comment).
Congratulations, Sam! It was a close battle.
Love,
Janie
Not bad, although I thought Dr. John would get more votes. Both versions had merit. Thanks, Janie.
I called the winner again. I too like the psychedelia and that genre will usually win me over in any match up.
Arlee Bird
That was the majority opinion. 🙂 I thought they were great, too, but have a thing for bluesy guitar riffs.
Look what I found! 😀 The full album:
Hi, Shady; I take it you didn’t care for Dr. John’s version. To each their own. Our ears don’t have to match to carry on a friendship. 🙂 Sam Gopal did a great job and I liked their rendition a lot, but Dr. John had those awesome guitar riffs and that basso profundo delivery that gave me chills. If Ariana Grande and Minnie Riperton did a duet, I’d definitely be jumping off the boat! 😉 That second track from Sam Gopal was killer! I’m glad you enjoyed it, too. Cheers!
