What exactly is this book? It’s the brainchild of author Erika M. Szabo and she’s here to tell you herself:

Anthology by authors, poets, artists and animals lovers to benefit animals in need.

Proceeds from book sales will be donated to animal shelters.

All my pets were either adopted from shelters, or they found us. We live in the Catskill Mountains and unfortunately the “summer people” who rent a home or own one as summer home, often bring puppies and kittens with them for the entertainment for their kids for the summer. When autumn comes, they move back to the cities where pets are a nuisance or not allowed in the apartment building. Some of them just close the door behind them and leave the animals outside to fend for themselves. Since we moved to the country side from the Bronx over 20 years ago, eight cats and three dogs found us and stayed with us until they had to go to animal heaven I want to help animals in need, any way I can. So being a writer, I thought that I could use my God given talent of storytelling to help struggling animal shelters. Our furry, feathered and scaly friends who are not adopted from shelters need our help to survive; they depend on us for food, shelter and loving homes. I wrote a few funny and true stories about my pets, fox pups that grew up in my backyard. I invited a few author friends to join me in this project to publish a book, Read for Animals and donate the money collected from the sales after publishing fees to different animal shelters every three months.

  1. Hi Debbie,

What a lovely idea to help abandoned pets through the collaboration! That’s very kind and generous of her, and really nice to hear you are part of such a wonderful project.

Yesterday I noticed the invite you sent on Facebook, but thought it’s a community page managed by you on helping animals.

Hope the event has been great and ongoing 🙂

You have a wonderful weekend ahead and all the best for the event, Debbie 🙂

    1. HI Mayura; Yes, it is a wonderful project and I’m also thrilled to now have three of my stories in a real book! 😀 There is a community page also called Read for Animals, as well as the event, which is turning out to be quite successful. It will be my turn to host tomorrow, March 24. Come on over if you can. Thanks for visiting and have a great week.

      1. Hey Debbie,

That’s awesome! 🙂 I just been to the blog and Facebook page once I read your comment, but I guess I’m kinda late to the event. Almost called the Goodnight. Yesterday I was barely online. Sorry about that dear :-\

I find a lot of folks gathered there to support the event though. Wish more success 🙂

    1. Welcome to The Den, Nabanita! 🙂 Yes, many animals are abandoned and need help to find loving homes. This is a great book and all proceeds will be donated to animal shelters. Thanks for visiting and have a good day.

  2. This is absolutely awesome, Erika and my jaw dropped at people on vacation leaving the pets like that! I was mortified reading that. I hope this project does wonderfully and thank you so much for sharing her with us, Debbie!

    1. Hi Mike; Thanks for dropping by. Erika’s been incredibly busy orchestrating this entire project. The response has been terrific and I hope you’ll join us as well. 🙂
