KIDS AND PETS
No kids to be had here, but there’ve been plenty of pets – all dogs. 🐾🐾 Mostly belonging to other people, in my capacity as a “Canine Caregiver”, from 1996 to 2021.

Lots of dogs, I think you love dogs pretty much😊I have had 4, one Old English Sheep Dog, 2 Borzois and one Scottish Deerhound and a lot of cats, sheep, chicks, rabbits, birds, now just one old cat. I understand you have taken care of someones’ dogs but you have had your own too. You also have had a cool car👍Very good photos, you take excellent pictures! Have a great upcoming weekend and keep rocking👍👍👍
Yes, I’ve had dogs most of my life and took care of many others in my 25+ years running a pet care business. 🙂 You’ve had lovely dogs as well! Sheepdogs are like giant teddy bears and Borzois are beautifully regal. Scottish Deerhounds are somewhat similar to Irish Wolfhounds, yes? Big and beautiful as well. You’re obviously an animal lover, with all of those other pets too. Cats are easier to manage than dogs. Haha! That “cool” car looked good, but it was always breaking down and we got rid of it after a few years. The next one was better and lasted much longer. It was a Camaro Z28 sports coupe. We loved that one! Thanks for coming by, Jean. Always rocking, here. 🙂
This car looks really cool, I think you have driven with that to many many places and having a great time. You are a music lover. Have you ever counted how many concerts you have attended? I think pretty many😊
We loved that car and were sad to let it go, but after 20 years, it was rusting out and we sold it for parts. Concerts are my “Fountain of Youth” and we try to get to at least 2 or 3 every year. The COVID years were depressing when everything was cancelled! 🥺 My first concert was in 1971, so that’s a lot! Here’s a partial list:

I must admit that this “partial” list is pretty impressive, isn’t it, 😲 You really love music! I can imagine how much you miss that car it looked very cool and you had it so long time. Your concert list is very precious, you could make for it a page on your site. I didn’t know that songkick.com at all. I have noticed that you know very many things, that is great 👍
Yes, music is one of my biggest passions. 🙂 Thank you, Jean! I like that idea of adding a concert page.👍 It might seem like I know a lot, but that’s only because I’ve been around for 70 years. 😆
Great picture!!!
Debbie, I went to watch the weather on YouTube and another Emmy video popped up and I just subscribed as who doesn’t need a laugh every day. So this video to see neighbor Linda Rose explains the purple boots so Emmy doesn’t scratch the door. Looks like every video has some music with it.

I love that and have subscribed as well. 💖 Thanks for sharing it, Linda.
You’re welcome – I knew you would love it Debbie. I watched the video of Emmy waiting for the mailman – that tail going a mile a minute!!
Aww, Debbie! Such lovely photos of our loyal canine friends, past and present. 💕
Glad you enjoyed the menagerie, Eugi! 🙂 Thanks for coming by. 🌹
You’re welcome, Debbie.
Hi Debbie – I apologize for being so tardy. I am still a day behind in Reader. I went back and looked for your post in my Reader and you were not there, so that may have been how I missed you. I had no post from Terri in my Reader last Sunday and didn’t realize it until a few days later since I had posted on Saturday due to the Earth Day prompt for April 20th. I usually comment on her post, then give her my link to my post. So, I had to go looking for her post too. When I told her, she said people had trouble commenting. Always something it seems.
I enjoyed seeing all the cute dogs and the cute captions about them and their “groups” too. They all looked happy and content on the couch “lounging about” but I liked the picture on the maypole as well. Your dogs through the years are sweet too – all girls and I like the picture of you and Zoey as she looks so content and the one where she gives you the side eye. 🙂 Dogs love you no matter what and that is a heady thought.
Oh gosh – don’t worry about it! I’m always behind with blogging stuff. Real life comes first, and the Reader seems to be fairly unreliable, in any case. I prefer to subscribe to sites directly, but even that doesn’t always function as it should. What can you do? ~shrug~
Glad you enjoyed the photos! 🙂 We had quite an eclectic mixture of dogs staying with us over the years. It’s a coincidence that all of our own have been female, but they do tend to be a little calmer, although Zoey, a rescued street dog, is less so. So true about the unconditional love that dogs give us. 💖
The Reader isn’t reliable because just like in Terri’s case, I went to your site and I am subscribed. I had another blogger that I got unsubscribed to. I wondered why she had stopped posting as she posted at all random times, but at least a couple of times a week. So I went to her site, I was unsubscribed and she had posted about ten times.
They were a cute and eclectic mixture of pooches, all lounging around your home – very cute. I didn’t realize that females were calmer. We only males, but never had luck training two of the three. The German Shepherd got hip dysplasia and was euthanized, but I was still young, so I don’t remember if he was trained or not … the cocker spaniel and poodle were not well trained.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
I saw this cute video which I have to pass along as it pertains to you and dogs and why was I not blessed with a neighbor’s dog who is like this cutie pie Emmy.
https://youtube.com/shorts/gV_s_Vnajmk?si=l5mT4LO78ovmG-E2
I’ve been unsubscribed from people as well, a few times. Strange how that happens! That is sad about your German Shepherd. 😔 Many dogs get hip dysplasia. One of my clients had a yellow lab with that, but they fixed it surgically. That must have cost a fortune, but the dog was still young, so it was worth it. Loved the video! What a cute lab and she was wearing booties. 💖 Your neighbour is the problem, IMO, not the dog. She needs to hire a dog sitter or take him to doggie daycare.
It is sad that a lot of big dogs get hip dysplasia … I wonder why my parents didn’t have it fixed, but it might have been costly even then.
That is the cutest dog video – I have watched it multiple times and those purple boots (I wonder why) and the doorbell. A feel-good video. She went out in the pouring rain and it wasn’t long, but she was with the dog all weekend, plus Friday for take-your-dog-to-work-day and alone a few minutes and it went ballistic. Yes, it is not young, so it is not going to change.
The surgery was likely expensive in any era, but maybe your dog was too old or had other health issues as well? I was wondering about the lab’s boots. Perhaps she is allergic to grass? My dental hygienist’s dog is, and she has to wear boots all the time to go outside. At least you had some peace over the weekend. No, the dog won’t change, and I guess your neighbour doesn’t really care that she’s so stressed out. People like her shouldn’t be allowed to have dogs, IMO. 😒
That might have been the issue (expensive). I know when we had the poodle, I was old enough to be in tune with the arguments my parents had over the vet bills for the dog. It had chronic ear issues and had to go to the vet every week, plus had drops that had to be administered at home. It was a bone of contention between them. I agree with you about that. My late neighbor had a shelter pet that had been beaten by a male at its prior home and the woman in the house gave it up as she worried the man would kill the dog. It was a small mixed breed, maybe a terrier. That dog did not like any male that came into Marge’s house – they had to lock it in a room, but the rest of the time, it sat in a chair by the living room when Marge was at work or out of house – it only barked when it saw me in my hat (we never figured that out). 🙂 It was alone for many hours, not a peep out of that dog.
Vet bills are always pricey, but dog owners have to be prepared for them. When our Dalmatian was old, she had many health issues and our bills were so high, I had to choose between those and getting a newer car (mine was rusting out on the bottom). Or course, the dog won out. 💖 Hats are often intimidating to dogs and many of them do react, as they don’t recognize the person wearing them.
I know – pets are more important than anything material. They are members of the family. It was funny with Marge’s dog Woody … it was the only time he acted like that so if I went to visit her in the Winter, I had to remove it to keep peace in the household. 🙂
Well I apologize, my little shrugging guy is missing one arm – he usually copies and pastes fine!
Weird about the shrug emoji. Let me try: ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I don’t know… Gremlins!
Yes, it’s still messed up and I thought I figured out afterward that mine was in an old Word doc I kept and it was a lower version of Word, but it was not the case as I tried it in Word 365 and he is still missing an arm. Gremlins for sure!
I found an explanation! WordPress uses markdown, which is why it wouldn’t display properly.

I copied the formula in the above link and voila! 😀
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That was interesting Debbie! I was bummed when I did it on my comment to you and it ended up armless on one side. Interesting the tech person figured it out. Thank you for sharing. I wonder how many armless shrugs I’ve done through the years. I always check my comment on your blog to ensure it worked .
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The mysteries of the internet! 😆 I learn something new every day.
Me too Debbie – I wish I could remember the great website our computer guy set as our home page when my boss/I went out on our own. I could have spent hours on it – it had tons of stuff.
DEBBIE ~
I couldn’t look at all of those photos without immediately thinking of the episode titled ‘Dogs, Dogs, Dogs’ from The Andy Griffith Show (TAGS).
It’s not in my Top 10, but it’s a truly great episode, in which Barney Fife (Don Knotts) delivers one of his all-time best moments. Any big fan of ‘TAGS’ knows & loves this episode. It contains one of the really classic lines: “Boy, giraffes are selfish!”
I could 100% money-back guarantee you that if you ever approached a major TAGS fan and said, out of the clear blue, “Boy, giraffes are selfish!”, that person would immediately respond by saying, “Dogs, dogs, dogs!”

That was fun to watch, Stephen. Thanks! 😀 I remember the show, but not this episode. Our little old bungalow was full of dogs for many years.
So much love in those photos. I love the 1975 photos. Man, I’m making myself a poncho. They’re just cool and look at you with the cool poncho AND the cool car. Living the dream. I’m so happy you have these good memories. 🙂
Thanks, Karen! 🙂 I still have that poncho, but the car, a 1971 Ford Torino 500, was a lemon. At least it looked cool.
What a fun post. Love all your furry friends. <3
Thanks, Deb! 🙂 I always gave my clients a vacation photo to take home. They loved those!
Great idea! 🙂
These are really adorable! The dogs in that first picture look real happy!
Glad you enjoyed the pics, John! 🙂 Most of my house guests were pretty happy here. It was a fun job, albeit demanding.
That last one brought me a wide smile…
Thanks! Have to have those daily dog hugs. 🙂
The dog pics are instant happiness! Was that a sheltie or a collie? Reminds me of Echo, my sheltie. Anyway, he or she is gorgeous.
I’m glad you enjoyed the photos, Barb! 🙂 The two pictures on the bottom left are of Shelby, a sheltie. Bottom middle is a collie name Bella.
I miss my dog so badly, it often makes me feel sad and inconsolable. So it was a delight to see all the happy dogs in your photos today, Debbie.
Best wishes, Pete.
I understand, Pete! 💖 But I’m glad this post was a cheery spot in your day.
Such a wonderful post of furbabes over the years. You made me smile.
Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. Hugs, my friend. ♥
I’m glad you enjoyed the photos, Sandee! 🙂 Happy rest of the week to you. Hugs back!
Hi Debbie, I’m so happy to see this post! Canine Caregiver, I love that! And I’m sure you took great care of your charges with love. And your own dogs through the years invoke sweet memories.🐾 We always remember them fondly.
Glad you enjoyed the post, Terri! 🙂 Yes, I loved my house guests, although, with a few of them, I was equally glad when they went home. 😆 Mostly, they were good though. Our own dogs will never be forgotten, either. 💖
Lovely photos of all the dogs. I am more of a cat person but was brought up with both, so appreciate both.

I’m glad you enjoyed the photos! 🙂 Before starting my doggie “hotel”, I used to do cat house calls for people who were away. Cats are cute too, but seem to be a lot more independent than dogs.
Oh my, Debbie, what a dog-tastic selection, ….they’re all furry delights, …thanks for giving my Wednesday a doggy delightful lift, … 💫🤗💫💙💫
I’m glad you enjoyed the photos, Penny! 🙂 I look back on them with great fondness. 💖
They’ve always got a special place in our hearts Debbie, never forgotten, …💫🤗💫💙💫
I love those gorgeous dog photos
Thanks, Thomas! 🙂 I always gave my clients vacation photos to take home. They loved them.
