This week’s #4M music theme is “Songs that make you think of being in nature (outside)“.
Summer is when I want to be outside the most!
I first published this poem and playlist in 2022, but have updated it for today’s post:

DEBBIE ~
You’ve got some songs on that playlist that I like a lot! Particularly 1, 2, 3(!), 5, 7(!), and 8(!).
Some not on there that would definitely need to be on a Summer Songs playlist that I concocted for myself would be ‘Summer’ by War, and ‘The Warmth Of The Sun’ & ‘All Summer Long’ by The Beach Boys. (Helck, I’d probably wind up putting the entire Beach Boys album ‘Endless Summer’ on my playlist!)

Glad you enjoyed the playlist, Steven! Even Janis? Wow! π The Beach Boys definitely conjure up images of summer. Here’s War, for you:
It’ summer over here all year round!
Love your playlist with all of these fantastic oldies.
Happy Wednesday, Debbie!
I would love that, Veronica! Well, except maybe at Christmas time, but I think I could adjust. π Thanks for coming by!
What a nice playlist. My favorite here was the video of Summer in the City; I loved that song so when it came out that I bought the 45. The vintage images, so well put together. I am not a Kid Rock fan but that’s another song I really like, possibly because the music is a mash up of three other songs I really like. Very nice, and, as ht as this summer was, I’m not going to be happy to see it end. Why? Because it means winter is on its way.
Glad you enjoyed the playlist, Alana! π Kid Rock put together a memorable summer tune, made from, as you said, three other great songs. I’m with about summer, and will take heat over cold, any day!
So, are you trying to tell me that you like summer? lol If I lived in Canada, I probably would love the warmer months. Okay, “love” is a bit of a stretch but I’d sure like it better than Canadian winters. π Your playlist is fantastic with all of these oldies. I don’t know if I can count Kid Rock’s song as an oldie just yet, but it’s a fun song nonetheless. Thanks for joining the party and have a boogietastic week, Debbie!
Haha – yes! Summer is my favourite season, even though we live in the “Banana Belt” of Canada (our “Deep South”). Our winters aren’t nearly as bad as most of the country, thank goodness! Glad you enjoyed the playlist, Cathy. Thanks for co-hosting this fun music fest!
I remember that Mungo Jerry song very well and the Kinks.. terrific play list Debbie.. β₯
Good times, Sally! π Thanks for coming by.
I enjoyed your post
Thanks for reading/listening! π
Pretty good list! I knew all but Keith Urbans- and maybe Pearl’s. Poem is definitely my feelings as well.
Glad you like the list and the poem! π Thanks for reading/listening.
I’m not for The Red Hot but love all the others. Now if I had a 1957 convertible, with the big fins, I’d play these tunes while cruising down some old highway.
That’s a great mental picture, Birgit! Let’s go cruisin’. π Ordinarily, I’m not a big fan of the Chili Peppers either, but I love this haunting ballad.
Hi, Debbie. I wrote a comment about your post but it wouldn’t publish. The error message said it was a duplicate comment. I wonder if this comment will publish.

Your poem is cute, Debbie. Now that we’re into August, I can start to look forward to cooler weather coming up in September (I hope) and in October (definitely maybe). I don’t count on anything with the weather these days because of climate change.
Love,
Janie
I know what you mean, Janie! Here in the “Great White North”, we have had Florida-type weather. And yet, today it feels like fall, with a return to hot later in the week. Sheesh! π Glad you liked the poem. Thanks for reading!
A relaxing and fun playlist. Very nice songs.
Glad you enjoyed it, Patrick! π
Summertime is a wonderful time of year. Love this post. You made me smile.
Have a fabulous day and week, Debbie. Hugs. β₯
It is, Sandee! π I’m glad you enjoyed the post.
Coming from London, I had two ‘Summer Records’ that I enjoyed every year. ‘Summer In The City’, which you listed, and ‘Long Hot Summer’ by The Style Council, released in 2004. (May not be known in Canada) I also have a fondness for Will Smith’s ‘Summertime’. It is the hottest day of the year so far here, 34C. (93F) Too hot for most people in England.
Best wishes, Pete.
That sure is hot for England! π² It’s been a summer of extremes everywhere. We’ve had extreme heat along with extreme rain, but today feels like fall. Go figure! I don’t know those last two songs you me mentioned, but remember Will Smith used to be a rapper. Found this:
Absolutely a great list Debbie I enjoyed it so much ππ
Thank you, Willow. Much appreciated! π
Great playlist, Debbie!
Thank you, John! π
Your playlist is full of hits, those years were the golden times for bands as well as audiences too and girls looked beautifulπ Cool post Debbie!! Have a good new week!!
Thanks, Jean. Summer vibes! π
