World’s Greatest Dalmatian

Our Beautiful Tasha ♥

Nov. 5, 1991 to May 22, 2007

‘Twas many years ago

But I miss you so

And the tears still flow

When that date comes along

I try to be strong

So hard to go on

As all that I do

Reminds me of you

  1. I enjoy your memorial tab. That’s what idealists made/make the internet for. Each Sunday, we walk through Pena Adobe and often meet (not planned) come across a retired couple in their 70’s with a Dalmatian. I’m thinking, “That’s about the best looking dog I’ve ever seen.” I’m a Labrador guy for life. And can’t even have dogs until we retire – can’t leave them alone ~ 11 hours per day nor even 4. So upon retirement, Labs and a Dalmatian(s) if they’re good tempered.

    1. Thanks for visiting The Den, once again! 🙂 I’m glad you’re enjoying my site, G-Dogg. Do you have a blog as well? I’d love to check it out if you do. Labs are wonderful dogs and I’m hoping to convince hubby to get a black one, but he’s not willing, at this point. Tasha is a tough act to follow! Yes, it’s terrible to leave a dog alone for 11 hours, but that’s where people like me come in. I used to walk dogs all over town when people were at work or otherwise engaged. Now, people leave their dogs at my “Canine Inn” (my house, where they become a temporary family member), when they go out of town. There are also doggie daycare centres all over. 1. Cool links, Debbie D, never seen Labs in hockey jerseys before – good stuff. Your philanthropy is more than admirable. My dogs at “Canine Inn”…. Any dog babysitters would call me with a blue streak. Had two Cocker Spaniels – sisters – one ought not have one dog ,they need at least one other dog. I let them be wild, like them wild, jumping on the couch, jumping on people as they walk in the door, handing them food under the dining room table, walks with leashes that are a tug of war. Throw – was going to say tennis balls but you know the fibers are bad for their teeth, besides racquetballs bounce much further. ‘Till their legs are so tired they can barely walk up the stairs. Then back to wild the next day, figuratively sliding on the wood floor like Keystone Cop hockey players.
“But dogs Like discipline.” Well. They’re pretty crazy, you’d demand to be paid double time.
Suburbs, these days, not a good place for dogs. Upon retirement, when commuting isn’t an issue, live off the fat of the land and throw racquetballs to big dogs. I appreciate your inspirational writings and inspiration for dogs. And that you enjoy doing what you do.

        Cheers,

        1. Your Spaniels must have been lots of fun! 😀 I’m not a stickler for rules either, and the dogs that stay here sprawl all over the furniture, but some training is necessary, in my opinion, especially when it comes to leash walking (and most especially for big, powerful dogs). The arthritis in my fingers is mostly due to years of leash yanking and pulling. 😛 Racquetballs are also my fetch toy of choice, along with soft-sided frisbees. I don’t know why people insist on using tennis balls.
          Couch potatoes!
Thanks for checking out my articles! 🙂

          1. I hear you on the training. Leash tugging is minimalized when a “walk” is jogging and roller blading forget it, dogs be like “Slow down.” Training is a must in the country with no fences… those invisible electric fences where a dog gets a shock from going to far. Then when one takes the dog(s) for walk, turns the fence off, the dogs stop and don’t want to go past the electric fence: That’s not cool.

            Cool pic, living the dream.

            1. Anything that causes distress for an animal is definitely not cool! 🙁 Thanks for continuing our dialogue. Always happy to make new internet friends. 🙂 Cheers!

  2. She was gorgeous and I can see she had lots of fun with you.
I’ve only met one Dalmatian and that was when I was going to puppy classes. He helped my in my mission of livening things up! There was nothing he liked better than to slip his lead and run and run around the room. We had lots of fun together!
