monthly roundup aug 2021

This  will be a regular feature, highlighting what’s been going on here at The Den.
(Just in case you missed something! 😉)

There’s not so much to report for August, as I was on an extended blogging break, started in March.

The first post back, published Aug. 16, talks about that and also what’s new:

So, what is new?

🎙Podcasts!🎙

I started to teach myself how to make them, and, while it’s still a learning process, there are two recordings, so far:

Next up, on Aug. 30, was another chapter in the #MusicalMemories series. This time, we went back to 1968, the year I was craving freedom, but went to “jail”, instead.

STAY TUNED FOR THESE OFFERINGS IN SEPTEMBER:

Plus, (hopefully) another podcast or two (must figure out a schedule for those!) and maybe some photo posts. Also in the works (likely further in the future): More material for Youtube! I’d like to add the podcasts and make playlists for the musical memoirs.

  1. Hi Deb. loved listening to you on both videos. Yep, seems to be the way things are going – Podcast. What platform are you using to record?

    1. Thanks for checking out the podcasts, Debby. 🙂 Right now, I record on anchor.fm. That’s the one Sally Cronin uses as well. (Got the idea from her.) They upload to Spotify and other platforms automatically. I convert the original recording to mp3 and add it to Soundcloud manually.

      1. Thanks for that Deb. But wait, I thought Soundcloud was an alternate platform? So you record on anchor then convert and reload to soundcloud? Can you not just record on soundcloud?

        1. Yes, you can record directly on Soundcloud, too. The benefit of using Anchor is that they offer sound effects and other embellishments, plus they automatically distribute your podcast to Spotify (same company), Google podcasts and a few other sites. Additionally, you get an RSS feed which Soundcloud doesn’t have, as far as I know.

  2. I have never listened to a podcast. Good luck with yours. I have a friend who is always listening to them before going to bed and then complains about not having enough sleep.

  3. OMG what a page. You were on a blogging break creating this amazing blog, right? LOL just Fantastic! Subscribed. Can’t wait to see what comes next. Congratulations!

  4. Unless you have a lot of content to air, I would suggest what a lot of others do, which is to air your podcast weekly. it’s an easy enough schedule to keep and will prevent you from stressing out trying to produce a ton of content in a short period of time. Granted, you can record a bunch of episodes at once, then drop them in on a weekly basis, which will allow to work on things on a pace of your own choosing.

Note: I listen to a ton of podcasts and 99% of them drop on a weekly basis, the remaining 1% drop either every two weeks or three to four times a week.

    1. Hi GB, not sure I’m ready for weekly podcasts, yet. Maybe monthly? 😉 I’m slow! Still trying to learn all the fine points… I do believe podcasts are where it’s at, currently. Thanks for your input!

  5. Hi Debbie – I think we’ve all been relatively quiet … but things here are opening up, only locally for me – I may get to London at the beginning of November – I’ll see how things develop. Just enjoy blooming on the blog once again … cheers Hilary

  6. I like your podcast. Nice, short and sweet with a message and that’s that. Of course I’m expecting there to be longer podcasts as time goes on, and you’ll probably have an interview or three. lol

    1. Hi Mitch! I’m still learning the ropes with the podcasts. Glad you like the idea, but it’s going to be a while before they get more complicated. Thanks for coming by! 🙂 Youtube is also on the horizon. 😉
