WELCOME BACK TO BOTB!
It’s time waay past the time to announce the results of the Nov. 15th showdown.
Most of you were probably offline anyway, enjoying the American Thanksgiving long weekend.
Can you believe the holiday season is here already?! Anyway, on to the details:
BATTLE OF THE BANDS (BOTB), hosted by StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands is where you listen to different recordings and vote for the one you like best. Two “Battles” per month, on the 1st and 15th. (Please note: Effective July 2017, I switched to once a month on the 15th only. This will allow me more time to share other types of material with you.) Votes will be tallied and posted the following week.
And here I thought this classic rivalry between The Beatles and The Stones would be a close battle. Well, surprise, surprise! One band came out far ahead and it’s blowout city – again. For the record, I preferred John Lennon’s vocals to Mick Jagger’s (but enjoyed the arrangement) and chose The Beatles. The tally:
THE ROLLING STONES
Birgit, Stephen
Total: 2
~~~~~~~~
THE BEATLES
Arlee, Cathy, Cherdo, Chris, Debbie, G-Dogg, John, Mary, Michele, Mike, Myke
Total: 11
AND THE WINNER, BY A HUGE MARGIN, IS,
THE BEATLES!
Here’s a 1962 recording of them with original drummer, Pete Best, performing the song for a Decca Records audition.
The company turned them down and went with The Rolling Stones, instead!
Don’t forget to check back with the others for their BOTB results:
The more, the merrier!
NEXT BATTLE OF THE BANDS (ON THIS SITE) WILL BE DECEMBER 15th.
Until then,
ROCK ON!
Debbie,
I’ve meant to come by earlier in the week but it’s been hectic here. Phew, you just wouldn’t believe! I went with the winner in this round. Yay, me! In the coming days, I won’t be around in Blogosphere even though I have a few posts scheduled (BoTB is one of those). I’ll eventually get around to visiting folks, though. Please be patient with me in the coming days. We have to buy a car (unplanned) so I’m feeling a bit wired over this new development. Have a good weekend, dear friend!
Ringo. He not only does drums he does hand claps. The Rolling Stones are good but they don’t have Ringo. The Beatles are like, “We have Ringo. Say goodnight Gracie.” The Rolling Stones have champagne but they can break out the bottled water on their way to second place. That’s what Ringo does to people.
I’ve always been a big fan of Ringo’s. He’s the one with the sense of humour! 😀 And John Lennon’s vocal abilities were far superior to Mick Jagger’s, in my opinion.
I can’t argue with this outcome–especially considering that I voted on the winning side! The Beatles vs Stones was a classic match that goes back to when both groups were still active. I always leaned more toward the Beatles, but the longevity of the Stones and their quality output of music is commendable.
Me too, but I was disappointed at The Stones’ poor showing, here. I might try this match up again if I can find a different song.
Oh, my… I think this is twice I have been on the winning side here, this year, Debbie. Isn’t that wonderful?
🙂
You’re on a roll, Myke! 😀
