Joining Glyn Wilton‘s weekly ‘Mixed Music Bag’ once again.
Thanks for the opportunity, Glyn! This month, we are asked to highlight music from artists whose names start with ‘K’ or ‘L’. My selection today is British rock band, Led Zeppelin (1968-1980). And, because I’m talking about music’s aphrodisiac properties, the chosen song is ‘Since I’ve Been Loving You‘.

Who doesn’t want to feel mellow, sexy, irresistible?
There are different things that can trigger this state of mind.
One that many people find seductive, including me,
– most definitely me –
is:
♥♥ MUSIC ♥♥🔥ESPECIALLY SCORCHING BLUES ROCK!🔥
“Since I’ve Been Loving You” was one of the first songs prepared for the Led Zeppelin III album, released in 1970. It was recorded live in the studio with very little overdubbing and was reportedly the most difficult. It’s a slow blues number in the key of C minor.
John Paul Jones played the Hammond organ, using the bass pedals instead of a bass guitar. John Bonham‘s preferred drum pedal, the Ludwig Speed King model 201, squeaks during the recording, and has been called the “Squeak King”.
The song became a live performance staple for the band throughout the rest of their career, replacing “I Can’t Quit You Baby” from the first album as the band’s slow blues showcase, with Page’s guitar solo featured on both the recorded version and in the band’s live show.
The opening and closing lyrics of “Since I’ve Been Loving You” are nearly identical to the 1968 Moby Grape song “Never“. The composer, Bob Mosley, received an out-of-court settlement in 2005, but this did not result in any change to the songwriting credits.

Debbie that thing I wonder ”It’s a slow blues number in the key of C minor”
I sent you an email. According to the sheet music, that was the key.
Loved this musical interlude and mini bio of Led Zeppelin Deb. 🙂
Thanks, Deb. 🙂 Led Zeppelin is one of my favourite bands.
You must have worked a lot for your site, many things here to explore. This Led Zeppelin post brings back many memories with this great song. Your video of this song has been made beautifully. You have also interesting material on SoundCloud. Would be interesting to hear your opinion about the very different kind of album of Led Zeppelin, ”Presence”, it is not so famous but I like it very much. Great post Miss D.
Thank you, Jean! 🙂 I started blogging in 2009 and the current site has been around since 2013, so yes, there is a lot of material. Thanks also for exploring my SoundCloud account.
I think ‘Presence’ is an excellent album! My favourite tracks are ‘Tea For One’, ‘Nobody’s Fault But Mine’ and ‘Achilles Last Stand. It didn’t sell as many copies as previous albums, probably because Robert Plant was recovering from a car accident and they couldn’t go out on tour to promote it. It’s a solid, guitar-driven rock album and I believe, Jimmy Page’s favourite one. Two thumbs up! 👍👍
Great answer Debbie, I am pleased to hear that someone else too likes that album. Your right it is guitar driven, I especially like the over all production of it ”different ” that’s cool. You know really much about music and bands. Yes, here are many things to explore which is good, I must move on (though I like that video so much). Your CoundCloud material is also interesting, great topics and very well performed, ”recommended by me”. Okay I watch once more your beautiful video and then take a look at your other posts:)
Thank you, Jean! 🙂 I’ve loved music from a young age, even taking piano and guitar lessons as a child, and singing lessons as a young adult. The talent level wasn’t good enough to go anywhere with it, though. I appreciate your compliments about my SoundCloud podcasts, etc.! I’m taking a break from those now, but may start them again in the future.
You can’t really beat Led Zeppelin. I enjoyed this post
I agree! 🙂 Thank you, Birgit. Glad you enjoyed it.
Well, I’m glad I am old enough to remember when I first heard LZ … the first time around, on the radio, LPs and cassettes.
Those were the best years for music! 💖 Thanks for dropping by, Linda. 🙂
I don’t know why, but blues is one genre that only grabs me occasionally… BB King notwithstanding…
BB King for sure notwithstanding! 🙂
Though not a huge fan of Led Zepp, ‘Stairway To Heaven’ has to be one of the finest songs of the modern age. I never tire of hearing it.
Best wishes, Pete.
I agree with you, Pete, and thought about including ‘Stairway To Heaven’, but considered it too obvious. I’ll share it here, for your listening pleasure. 🙂
Having had the thrill of seeing LZ perform live a few times, I can attest to the fact that Robert Plant is a prime example of a natural aphrodisiac. Thanks for bringing this fine tune to the table today, Debbie.
Yes, he certainly is. 😀 It must have been fantastic to see Led Zep perform live – and “a few times” no less! 😎 That’s one favourite band I never had the chance to see.
Led Zeppelin is <3 <3
Good to get to know the history behind “Since I have been loving you.”
Yes, Led Zeppelin was phenomenal! 💖 Glad you enjoy them too, Natasha. Thanks for coming by. 🙂
