Apparently, February 20th is “National Love Your Pet Day“. Um… pardon me, but shouldn’t that be EVERY day?! 🤔
I’m no fan of manufactured tribute days. I mean, come on, do we REALLY need a reminder to pamper our loved ones? And, if we don’t do something extra-special on a specific day, designated by whom – usually the retail industry – does that make us assholes? 😆
Nevermind!
As an animal lover and lifelong dog person, I’m willing to go along with the spirit of today and honour our past and present furkids.
Sheila was a feisty little black cockapoo and Lisa, who was a few months younger, a shy little terrier mix. Sheila took good care of her baby sister, but her life was cut short by cancer. Lisa mourned for months.

I completely agree with you, Debbie — everyday is the day to love our pets and give them all the pets and cuddles they deserve! But, like you, I enjoy getting into the spirit of things and using the opportunity to shower them with even more pampering. Gorgeous photos! Their eyes are so wonderfully expressive, and I love how politely they pose to get their pictures taken!
If you’re a pet owner loving your furbaby is an every day thing. You don’t need anyone to tell you to that on any given day. I’m with you on manufactured “special occasions”. You don’t need ’em but the retail industry does and we’re suckers to fall into these traps. Zoey’s black coat is so shiny. She look like a happy girl. Tasha was a beautiful creature. Ever since I watched “101 Dalmatians” with our girls when they were small I wanted one. She lived a long life. I can see why it took you so long to adopt another pet. Our Maine daughter lost her kitty baby who was a similar age as your Tasha last fall. It broke my heart because I know how much she loved her. Animals add a lot to a person’s life. We haven’t had a pet in many years. It would be nice to have one again.
Anything to get people to spend money, eh? 😆 Zoey is certainly happier with us than on the streets of Kentucky, where she was found. She’s definitely our “baby”. 💖 Yes, losing Tasha to old age was a major heartache and still, to this day, I get teary-eyed about her. Your daughter feels the same about her kitty, no doubt. When my dog boarding business died out (thanks to COVID), the house just became too empty and depressing, so we are happy to have Zoey now. 🙂
It’s a great post! I never would have guessed it was a last-minute thing. 🙂 Zoey is the cutest little girl. And, she hugs back? Awwwww. My heart is so full. She is such a sweetie.
Thanks, Kymber! It’s “midnight madness”! 😉 I do my best work in the wee hours. Zoey likes to initiate hugs too, by standing on her back legs. We love her a lot, even though she has some issues related to her rough beginnings, like doggie PTSD. 💖
Yay pets! I love this. Didn’t know about the Jetpack comments. I never comment through them because I like to see the fullness of a blog, but I know lots of people who do. Thanks for letting us know.
Thanks, Jacqui! 🙂 Yes, I was PO’d to discover this issue with the Jetpack mobile app. Unfortunately, their commenting system doesn’t play nice with my theme. 😛

Zoey is a beautiful dog, and yes, every day should be love your pet day!
Thank you Peter 🙂 What’s not to love, yes?
I agree that every day is Pet day. Love seeing all your pets.
Thanks, Birgit! 🙂 You’ve had some lovely pets as well.
Every day is love your pets day in my house. You’ve had some beautiful doggies, Debbie.
Love,
Janie
Yes, I know that about you Janie. 🙂 You are the bestest dog mommy! 🐶 All dogs are beautiful in one way or another. 💖

Thanks, Damyanti! 🙂 Dogs, like people, have unique personalities. Most of the ones I know are big hams and love to pose.

Well, Misty got a walk today… but she was still mad from last night, when I aborted a possible walk to watch the race…
Well, it’s today that counts, because it is “Love Your Pet Day”! 😉 Such silliness, eh?
Those are beautiful photos. So many wonderful and lovable dogs. I am going to make post too pretty soon.
Thank you, Thomas! 🙂 Looking forward to your post. Your photos are always wonderful as well.
Thank you for your kind words Debbie. I posted.
I didn’t know this was Love Your Pet Day! How cool! I love all your pics, they all speak to my heart. I just want to give Zoey a big hug. xo
I just found out myself and posted something on the spur of the moment. 🙂 Zoey loves to be hugged. She hugs back! 💖

Awww on all the cute babies.
We love our babies every single day. We spoil them as we should.
Have a fabulous day and week, Debbie. ♥
Yes, and we don’t need reminders to do it. 😉 Thank you, Sandee! Have an excellent rest of the week, as well.

We had to have our beloved Ollie put to sleep earlier this morning. He will be loved forever.
Best wishes, Pete.
Oh no! 😢 My sympathies to you and Julie. Such a heartbreak! 💔
