‘Twas six years ago

But I miss you so

And the tears still flow

When this date comes along

I try to be strong

So hard to go on

As all that I do

Reminds me of you

  1. That is so beautiful. Mom lost her first dog 9 1/2 yrs ago and she still tears up about it, so we understand. The pain gets less and less but never goes away.

    1. So true, Emma. The anniversary is always the hardest to bear, but, thankfully, the fond memories are more prevalent now. Thanks for visiting. ♥

  2. Hi Debbie,

What a lovely tribute to Tasha …I know wherever she’d be – she’d be watching over you and loving you every single day. Your post reminds me of the many dogs I’ve lost as I always had one right under my bed ever since I was born, and the trend carries on with my kids now.

I wish I could come over and give you a warm hug…as I can feel what you feel presently.

Thanks for sharing more of her with us. May she rest in peace wheresoever she is, and I know she’s very close to Him 🙂

  3. What a special tribute to your beautiful Tasha. She looks like she had lots of love to give you and your family.

Made me give my dogs a squeeze…even disturbing their sleep 🙂

    1. She was THE ONE, of all the dogs I ever had. ♥ Thanks for visiting Corina and also for sharing the post. Sorry for the late response.

  4. Oh, so sorry for your loss. I know what its like to lose a pet. Such an important part of the family.

    1. Thank you, Loy. Tasha was that one “EXTRA-special” dog in our lives, although all of them were special, of course. We had her for over 15 years. ♥

  5. It still hits hard, no matter how long…Debbie… I share your tears welling for beautifl Tasha,…. I have so many photo’s and videos of My Bess, but I still can’t look at them without crying… so I desist ’til the pain goes away.. trouble is I feel as if it never will.. Hugs Aplenty. xPenx

    The key turns
    the door opens wide,
    There’s no sound
    as I step inside
    No welcoming bark,
    no tail wag for me
    my eyes fill with tears
    automatically…..

    1. Yes, the pain will always be there, but thankfully, over time, the waves are shorter and less frequent. Anniversaries are difficult and this sure isn’t my favourite time of year. Seems like yesterday. 🙁
Your beautiful poem really got to me; thank you so much. ♥ My consolation is that I usually have other people’s dogs around me, but alas, nobody here for the next few days and that really hits home. Hopefully, you will be able to view Bess’s photos and videos in future with warm memories and a smile. ((HUGS))

  6. I had to come back in just to say my 2 yr old granddaughter clicked on the Dog Song on my iPad and was thrilled ! So we hopped over there. 🙂

  7. So sorry, Debbie. I feel your pain. The love of a pet is true agape love. I miss my Pokey-Podeoto Pup. It has been 3 months, but after sharing our lives for 15 years, there has been such a huge hole left by his absence that I think it will never be filled. I just think it is so unfair that such loving creatures live short lives (in compare to our own).

  8. I know what you mean Debbie…

I am still feeling the pain of losing my
best friend, she was the sweetest cat…
It is very hard to come to terms with my
good friend but I know that one day I
will see her again and she will be in my
    heart and mind forever…

  9. Hi Jen; Yes, the memories do sustain us, don’t they? At least Tasha did live a good, long life. Losing Fritz must have been awful too. My sympathies to you.

  10. shes a lovely memory for you i lost my german shepherd fritz to liver failure nearly two yrs ago now but still upsetting to loose our friends and pets but they leave lovely memories xxjen

  11. We never forget, but, although time does heal to some extent, for me, it always comes back on this sad anniversary. Your wound is still fresh, Pen, and I am sorry this made you cry too. ((HUGS))

  12. Full of life and love and play, and I’m shedding tears with you Debbie.
{{{BIG HUGS}}} to you too, from a soul who’s feeling pain and the missing factor. WE love them so much, that’s why the hole left in our hearts when they go is so large. xx
