For as long as I can remember, I’ve never wanted to go to sleep at night. As a child, I would read under the covers with a flashlight. Now, after hubby goes to bed, I start a blog post or enter photo contests on Instagram. The muse thrives after midnight!
I also love night photography. There’s something magical about bright lights, a full moon, stars, or eerie branches against a night sky!

THE BLUE HOUR
What is it? A time of day when the sun has just set or is about to rise. The sky takes on a deep blue colour, and the landscape is suffused with bluish light. Some examples:

You did a stellar job with your night shots, Debbie! I felt like I had followed your blog, so I re-upped to make sure. You have quite the blog site here!
Thank you so much, Terri, for both the compliment and the (re) follow. 🌹
Beautiful pictures. It’s amazing how different a place looks at night versus day.
You’re a great photographer.
Be well, Debbie.
Thank you for those kind words, Robyn. I appreciate you coming by. 💖
Stunning photos, Debbie, and I love the Howling at the Moon display.
Thank you so much, Eugi! 🙂 There’s something magical about the full moon.
Hi Debbie – those are great photos … and collages – excellent to see them. I like my bed too much – but I’m more of a morning person … but always happy to see others’ takes on life. Great images – thank you – cheers Hilary
Thank you so much, Hilary! 🙂 Yes, “different strokes for different folks”, as they say.
Deb, your photos are gorgeous. And you’re talking to a sister nighthawk here. 🙂
Nighthawks unite! 😀 Thanks for stopping by, Deb. I appreciate the compliment. 💖
Such beautiful pics. So very nice.
Thank you for the compliment! 🙂
These are spectacular shots! I love the 2nd pic with CN Tower in the background highlighted by the green trees and the city colours.
The moon shots are great especially love the middle one with the moody moon and that one branch.
I almost always go to bed after my hubby too.
Thanks very much, Birgit! 🙂 That moon shot is perfect for Halloween.
Wow incredible photos
Thank you! 🙏 I have a real passion for photography. 🙂
Misty likes those deep blue mornings, as you probably noticed!
Yes, I imagine you see a lot of those. 🙂
Such beautiful shots. Night shots are always extra special.
Have a fabulous day and rest of the week, Debbie. ♥
Thanks, Sandee! 🙂 I love taking night shots, but they don’t always turn out so well. 😆 There are usually many duds and only a few keepers, so I take dozens at a time.
Love those shots. Night is a great time for pictures!
Thanks, Janet! 🙂 Yes, there’s something magical about night shots.
A lovely collection of night-time photography, Debbie. Thanks for showing us your city in the dark.
Best wishes, Pete.
I’m glad you enjoyed the photos, Pete. Thanks for coming by. 🙂 As usual, I’m way behind and struggling to catch up. Hope to read more of your blog, soon. I started Carole with an E. Intriguing story!
Debbie,
You captured the nightscapes and the blue hour beautifully! I especially love the shot of with the lightening bolt, what perfect timing! I’m absolutely the opposite. I’m a morning person. Usually by 9pm, I’m ready for bed except on the weekends as we’re often up til 11pm. 🙂 What can I say, we live life dangerously. lol
Thanks, Cathy! 🙂 It took me ten minutes to get that lightning shot – standing there, waiting for just the right second. 😆 For years, hubby worked a steady afternoon shift and came home around 11 pm, so we always tended to stay up late. He goes to bed around midnight now, and leaves me to my own devices. 💻
WOW, 10 minutes! I don’t know if I’d have the patience for that wait but you captured the moment. I suppose when you work for years on late evening shift then you sort of get locked into the habit. For as long as I remember I’ve always been more of a morning person, instead of a night owl. I was always the girl who was the first to fall asleep at slumber parties. lol
