GREEK TOUR, DETAILED ITINERARY
Sept. 8 – 22, 2013

Sept 08:
Transfer from Athens airport to your hotel- arrive at 15:40
Sept 08-10:
1 double standard room for 2 nights at 4 stars hotel ATHENS GATE in Plaka area of Athens
Sept 09:
1 day cruise to Hydra-Poros-Aegina island
08:00 a.m. Transfer by motor coach from Athens to Piraeus and embark on the cruise ship.
08.30 a.m. sail for the island of HYDRA. In Hydra you have free time for a stroll, shopping or swimming. In the early afternoon sail for the island of AEGINA, passing through the narrow strait separating the Peloponnesian coast from the island of POROS. Lunch is served after sailing. Short stop in Poros. Upon arrival in Aegina you can either join the excursion to the Temple of Aphaia (extra cost) or walk around the main town. Finally, re-embark for the trip back to Piraeus.
7.15 p.m. Arrival at Piraeus and transfer to Athens
Sept 10-13:
4 days /3 nights Classical tour with Meteora in a double room at 4 stars hotels
DAY 1: Leave by the coastal road for the Corinth Canal (short stop). Drive on and visit the theatre of Epidaurus, famous for its remarkable acoustics. Then proceed to the town of Nafplion, (short stop), drive on to Mycenae and visit the archaeological site and the Tomb of Agamemnon. Then depart for Olympia through the central Peloponnesus and the towns of Tripolis and Megalopolis. Dinner and overnight in Olympia, the cradle of the Olympic Games.
DAY 2: In the morning visit the archaeological site with the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the ancient stadium and the archaeological museum. Then drive on through the plains of Ilia and Achaia and over the magnificent cable stayed bridge which crosses the Corinthian Bay from Rion to Antirion. Pass by the picturesque towns of Nafpaktos (Lepanto) and Itea, arrive in Delphi. Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 3: In the morning visit the archaeological site and the museum. Break for lunch. Depart for Kalambaka, Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 4: Visit Meteora, where suspended in mid- air, stand ageless monasteries where you can see exquisite specimens of Byzantine art. Return to Athens via Trikala, Lamia, Thermopylae (visit the monument of Leonidas). Arrive in Athens early in the evening.
Sept 13-16:
1 double standard room for 3 nights at 4 stars hotel ATHENS GATE in Plaka area of Athens
Sept 14:
Athens sightseeing tour including new museum of the Acropolis
This tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Our expert guides will take you to see the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896 (short stop).Continue and pass by the Prime Minister’s residence (ex Royal Palace) guarded by the Euzones in their colorful uniform, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian’s Arch, the Parliament and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Constitution Square (Syntagma). On the Acropolis visit the Architectural Masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally “the harmony between material and spirit”, the monument that “puts order in the mind”, the Parthenon. Continue and visit the place where at last the statues found their home and admire the wonders of the classical era: The new Acropolis museum.
Sept 15: Cape Sounion afternoon tour
Drive along the scenic coastal road through the wonderful beach resort areas of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni and Varkiza, arriving at the southern point of Attica, Cape Sounion, where the white marble pillars of the Temple of Poseidon still stand. This is a photographers’ delight so bring your camera! Early evening return to hotel.
Sept 16: transfer from the hotel to the port for cruise embarkation
Sept 16-20:
5 days /4 nights Cruise with Louis cruise lines in a double cabin category XB’ (outside cabin with private wc)
Mykonos, Patmos, Santorini: Disembarkation by tender boats, weather permitting Kusadasi and Patmos calls might be in inverted order.

Piraeus(Athens) – Departure: 11:00
Mykonos, Greece – Arrival: 18:00, Departure: 23:00
Tuesday Sept. 17:
Kusadasi, Turkey (Ephesus)- Arrival: 07:00, Departure: 12:00
Patmos, Greece – Arrival: 16:00, Departure: 21:00
Wed. Sept. 18:
Rhodes, Greece – Arrival: 07:00, Departure: 18:00
Thurs. Sept. 19:
Heraklion (Crete) – Arrival: 07:00, Departure: 11:30
Santorini, Greece – Arrival: 16:30, disembarkation at Santorini port
Sept 19-21:
