Firstly, apologies for posting so late. Time just got away from me!
I thought it would be fun to present vastly different genres of a metal song and threw in the original for even more contrast. While searching for covers, I stumbled upon the Iron Horse bluegrass version, prepared to dislike it, as I’m not a big fan of that style. Imagine my surprise when I not only liked it but even considered voting for it. Me – the consummate Metallica fan! Many of you expressed similar sentiments and so, this became a close battle. For the record, I did vote for Metallica in the end, which made it a tie. I just love their music too much! (Sorry, Stephen 😉 ) A last minute vote from Guilie gave them the slimmest of victories. Poor old Pat didn’t fare so well. Honestly, I was wincing throughout his recording. 😛 A few of you liked him though and he did get a couple of votes, much to my surprise. Vive la différence! 😀
AND THE WINNER IS:
METALLICA
By one single vote!
What a squeaker!
Here’s the winner once more, in a live performance:
Since it was a close battle and Iron Horse is such a great find,

I chose Ironhorse. Poor Pat Boone, but I couldn’t handle his version. Nice battle, Debbie. Looking forward to your next one.
Hey, that is pretty close but my pick won! I’ll bet they won’t attribute that to my discerning voting…okay, that’s fine. I’ll just let Metallica bask in its glory.
Nice match up, girlfriend!
Yeah……it’s Friday. I drank some wine and the read this so it made it more fun. LOL I’m hyped that Metallica one. I’m glad I voted. It looked like a close one. Have a fantastic weekend. Debbie. I hope you had a great week.
Irish
Debbie, WOW! That was super duper close! It looks like I picked the loser this round, but I’m still happy with my choice. Have a good weekend and keep warm. It’s currently snowing. Our forecast is calling for 2-4″. That’s not a lot, but it will cause a big stink in Knoxville. lol
It was a close and spirited contest, and…
you know this is coming…
Nothing Else Matters
Well, of course! 😀 BTW, I really enjoyed Avril’s cover of “Fuel”. Have a good weekend!
Ah, I didn’t vote this time, but I would’ve given my vote to Iron Horse. I’ve liked them for a while. Bluegrass is my guilty pleasure, haha .. very tight battle though!
Hi, Madilyn; Too bad you didn’t vote – it would have ended up a tie, then. Oh well, next time! 🙂 I did like Iron Horse and that’s saying something, as I’m not a fan of bluegrass, generally.
What a great battle and how fun to have it be suspenseful to the very end! I’m glad Metallica won (that was my vote) but Iron Horse was good too. Pat Boone kinda creeped me out so no surprise that he didn’t get too many votes. That was just weird for him to be doing metal…
Congrats on a great battle Debbie!
Michele at Angels Bark
Hi, Michele. I’m glad you enjoyed the battle. Yes, Pat Boone turning metal into jazz just didn’t sit right. 😛 Iron Horse was a pleasant surprise.
This was a good battle:) I am still having my mouth open that people voted for Pat Boone-hahahaaa
It was a fun one, wasn’t it? 🙂 I was surprised about Pat too. Well, the band wasn’t bad and as Stephen said, the sax player stood out.
I can’t say I have ever been the biggest Metallica fan, though I do like much of their music.
I don’t always listen to additional videos, but I do from time to time. Once I started watching their live performance, it drew me right in and I had to watch the entire thing. They really put on a good show. Kinda wish I was there to enjoy live as well.
Ah, Jeffrey – you’ve got it, exactly! 🙂 I’m fervently hoping Metallica will come to Toronto because I’ve never seen them live, either. Strange that they don’t come here – this is a real “music mecca”. Hopefully, I will be able to cross that off the bucket list one day!
I missed this one, where was I? Been one of those months – it’s almost gone and I’ve accomplished nothing. I really need to change that, and I’m working too. Snowstorm on the way so it’s time for a big pot of soup! Enjoy your weekend!
It’s hard to keep track of everything, no worries. 🙂 I know you’ll be around for the next one because it’s tied into the Lost and Found Blog Hop. hope you don’t get snowed under. Stay warm!
Hi, Shady; I thought Pat would have received more votes too, but his version was too odd for most people. 🙂 Iron Horse sure came on strong and Metallica just squeaked in there. Next battle will be more mild-mannered as I’ll be talking about ♫ Love, Sweet Love ♫. Glad you enjoyed the battle! You have a good weekend as well.
That was a good one. Iron Horse held their own against a formidable challenger.

They sure did! 🙂 It was nice to see a not so popular genre do well.
I’m so glad I read your blog today! I would have totally missed the Blog Hop. I joined, now I just need to figure out how to tie in my battle without making the post a million miles long. LOL
Hi, Mary; Glad you’ll be joining us for the blog hop! 🙂 Mine will be a longer than usual post, for sure. Have a good weekend.
