WELCOME BACK TO BOTB!
It’s time to announce the results of the May 15th showdown.

#BOTB results, DOWN BY THE RIVER

BATTLE OF THE BANDS (BOTB), hosted by StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands is where you listen to different recordings of the same song and vote for the one you like best. Two “Battles” per month, on the 1st and 15th. (Please note: Effective July 2017, some of us switched to once a month on the 15th. Others may opt to continue with twice a month.) Votes will be tallied and posted the following week.

This was my first battle after a long hiatus and it’s good to be back. (Again. Maybe it will stick, this time!)  There was a clear winner here and my vote won’t make a difference, but for the record, I chose my “homeboy”, Joey. His version of “Down By The River” was the first one I ever heard, way before Neil’s. It’s burned into my brain, after getting heavy airplay on Canadian radio back in the day and I love the arrangement. The Undisputed Truth had a cool, bluesy vibe, but I was lukewarm about the vocals. Here’s the breakdown:

JOEY GREGORASH
Arlee, Birgit, Clowie, Debbie, diedre, Janie, Mike, Stephen
Total: 8
~~~~~~~~
THE UNDISPUTED TRUTH
Cathy, Chris, Mary, Michele
Total: 4
AND THE WINNER IS:
JOEY GREGORASH
Let’s hear it for Canadian music talent!
Canadian Pride
This is the only live performance I could find and it’s from this year:
    1. Thanks! I thought it was pretty good, too. 🙂 Couldn’t hurt to put the word out about getting a few more players, yes? The yellow highlight suits you. 😀
  1. Debbie,
    There was a decisive victory in this round. I was on the losing side this time. I skipping BoTB on the 1st. I plan to keep to one battle per month through summer and am going with the 15th. Hopefully, you’ll join me for that showdown. Have a good day!
  2. Please excuse all the Privacy policy and cookies stuff. 😛 There are these new regulations that all website owners must now contend with, and, in the process, annoy our visitors.
    1. Yeah, what is that, a WordPress thing?
      When I first started up a blog, I didn’t know what I was doing and had 3 different options suggested to me: WordPress, Blogger, and some other one I can’t even remember the name of (which has probably disappeared from the Internet by now). WordPress had the reputation for being the site for “serious” bloggers, but I’ve never regretted choosing Blogger. It has its problems too, but over the years, I’ve found WordPress to be rather annoying.
      1. Not just a WordPress thing, Stephen. The European Union has new privacy regulations that everyone with subscribers in Europe must comply with. If you don’t have any, then it’s not a problem for you. It’s a big pain in the ass, especially for those of us who own our websites. With Blogger and the free WordPress platforms, they do most of the work for you, since you’re using their servers. (Downside: when you host your blog on Blogger or WordPress.com you don’t actually own it. Ultimately it belongs to Google or WordPress. One wrong step can result in it being removed.)
