“Color (Colour) Makes The World Go ‘Round” is this month’s L’il HooHaa’s Photo Blogging Challenge theme.
Who doesn’t love colour? I sure do and the brighter the better. Did you know that individual colours have different characteristics? For example:
Red is associated with energy and power, but too much can cause irritation or anger.
Orange is considered warm and joyful, but just like red, too much can be irritating.
Yellow signifies optimism, cheerfulness and mental clarity, but if overused, the opposite effect kicks in.
Green is known to invoke feelings of peace and refreshment but can trigger laziness if overused.
Blue promotes rest and calm. It can be used more than often than other colours, but if overdone, can lead to feelings of apathy.

1) That stubborn old man, winter, is refusing to leave! Here’s a sure sign that warmer temperatures will arrive, eventually.
A colourful display of beach towels at a local department store.
2) To counteract the grey and dreary weather, I bought a colourful bouquet of flowers at the grocery store last week.
They really brightened up the house!
3) An abstract art painting at the Town Hall. It’s one of many by local artists available for sale.
4) “Reflections in Blue” mural at the Town Hall; a gift from the artist.
5) This mural was made for The Mosaic Mural Project two years ago. The national endeavour commemorated Canada’s 150th anniversary in 2017 by bringing together 150 communities and thousands of participants to create community murals that visually reflect the history and culture of Canada. It is comprised of 750 individually painted tiles, contributed by people of all ages.

So much color! As much as I’ve always liked black and white photography, I really love seeing colors pop. That abstract painting is pretty cool, as is the mural underneath. Those are things that always draw my eyes.
Very nice photos, DEBBIE!
I really liked that cool Mosaic Mural. In fact, the tree in it made me think of this mural in Carson City, where I’ve just recently moved to:
I love how the artist incorporated the neighbor’s tree into his painting. Very ingenious!

I’m glad you liked the photos, Stephen. Thanks for checking them out. 🙂 That Carson City mural looks fabulous! Sounds like you’re happy with the move.
Yes! Individual colors can evoke a multitude of emotions. I love the mosaic! Such a wonderful commemorative piece of artwork. And, I always love it when flowers jump into my basket at the store! ? Great selections for this month’s prompt.
I’m glad you enjoyed my selections, Lisa. Yes, that community mural is a fabulous project! 🙂 Thanks for coming by.
The flowers are beautiful.
Flowers have a way of brightening anyone’s day! 😀 Thanks, Myke.
I love the colour blue which you find in almost every part of my home. Thankfully, that is my hubby’s favourite as well. I love reading what the colours mean. I love the flowers and the art pieces, obviously the blue one and the mosaic is striking
Blue seems to be the most popular. 🙂 I had fun going around town, snapping these pics. The giant mural is SO cool! Thanks for coming by, Birgit.
Hi, Debbie! I love all of your bright colors. Over the years I’ve learned to use a lot of blue in decorating my houses because I thought blue to be a soothing color. I’m glad you confirmed it and I enjoyed the other information about colors that you presented.
Love,
Janie
Glad you liked the images, Janie. Blue is one of the most popular colours. I’m more into red, especially when combined with black, white and grey. Sort of an “abstract art” effect. 😀
I love fresh flowers in the house, and your bouquet is beautiful! I may go out and get myself one 😉
Hi diedre; So nice to see you, here! I love fresh flowers too. They were the perfect “pick-me-up” on a grey day. 🙂 Thanks for visiting.
I like blue the best, but after hearing about the lazy factor, I might switch to green, lol!
Well, the lazy factor only kicks in if you use too much blue. Maybe a combo of blue and green? 😀 Thanks for checking this out.
Next to music and coffee, I love colors and my favs vary with the seasons. I love black, however, I love vibrant colors mixed with it.
Yep, here we are in spring, and soon we’ll be seeing decor for Halloween. lol
Love your displays! They’re stunning and full of life.
Black mixed with vibrant colours is fabulous! 🙂 Let’s not rush the seasons, here. LOL I want to enjoy summer before we get to Halloween. 😀 Glad you enjoyed the images. Thanks for visiting.
Debbie,
You see the seasonal changes in stores even before the weather gets on board. lol Spring is full heat up mode here for the most part. It won’t be long before I’ll be complaining about the heat. There’s no pleasing this gal. 😀 Of course, I’m trying to live in the moment because I know how fast the seasons pass so I want to enjoy the present instead of looking to the future. Not to mention that makes me older faster. Have a glorious day and thank you for visiting me during the A2Z Challenge. I’m glad it’s ending today because I’m beat!
So glad you’re enjoying Spring to the fullest, Cathy! I have a hunch we might skip it altogether and go straight into summer. 😛 Actually, I wouldn’t mind that, as long as it sticks around until October. I’m with you on enjoying the present. Don’t want to hurry life along, at all. I really enjoyed your A To Z posts, but hope you’ll be able to get some rest after that marathon. Thanks for dropping in! 🙂
You have done a wonderful job with your colors, Debbie!
Yes, I’ve heard of the association these colors have and how they impact our minds, and I tend to agree. Marketing and advertisment companies use this knowledge by branding their products a certain way. Coca-Cola, Starbucks, UPS, they all make a statement. Except Microsoft, they can’t decide 😉 Bahahaaaaaa!
I’m glad you enjoyed my entry, Tamara. 🙂 Yes, Microsoft has more than a few issues. LOL Thanks for coming by!
Every picture is delightful, but I like the mural the best. What a brilliant idea and so well executed.
There’s nothing like a shot of colour to brighten one’s day! 😀 Yes, I was so impressed with that mural and knowing 149 other communities did the same thing. Thanks for coming by, Corinne! 🙂
