CITY:

What city in the world do you want to visit most?

My number one bucket list city was Athens, Greece.
I was finally able to cross that one off in 2013 and it did not disappoint!

  1. Tuscan, Italy perhaps…not sure anywhere, perhaps southern Italy…would also love to visit the green and the music of Celtic history, mainly anywhere Ireland, as well as London, England and Santorini (?) in Greece….I’m just making places up as I go! 😉 <3

    1. Hi Elly; I’ve been to Italy three times, but not Tuscany. That would be a great place to visit. George Clooney has a villa there, too. 🙂 We toured southern Italy in 1990 and touched down there again, briefly, in 2013. That’s where my husband was born. His brother and family live in the Bari area. Visited London in 1969 (but didn’t get to meet the Beatles – damn! 😉 ) and Santorini in 2013. Both amazing places for different reasons. Ireland would be beautiful, in summer. Such lush greenery and fascinating history. Wonderful choices here.

  2. There are so many places I would love to visit…I know I probably never will, but I would love to go to London, Paris, and Venice. Those are my top choices. ♥

    1. Hi Kathy; Excellent choices! 🙂 I was able to visit London and Paris in the 1960s, while living in Germany. Would love to go back now, as an adult. Venice remains near the top of my bucket list too.

  3. I’ve always wanted to visit Sydney, Australia, for New Years Eve and see the fireworks. I’ve wanted to revisit Vancouver, British Columbia. I was there for several days in 1988 and it was so beautiful. I’ve never been off the North American continent, and Greece would be on my list just because of its ancient history. But Australia – that has been on my bucket list since childhood – before I knew what a bucket list is.

    1. Yes, Sidney is on my bucket list too, along with Vancouver, (never been to the northwest). If you love ancient history, Greece will blow your mind! 🙂 Thanks for visiting, Alana.

  4. Beautiful Photographs. I always wished to visit Scotland and the wish came true when we visited Edinburgh last year. The place was enchanting. I felt like I became a part of history just standing on the North bridge. Next on my wish list is a visit to Lucern in Switzerland.

    1. You had the same feeling in Scotland as I had in Greece. 🙂 I’ve been to Lucerne and it is beautiful. Hope you get there. Thanks for visiting The Den.

  5. I enjoyed your post, and I love how you usually state a question, sending me off to dream land. I would like to visit several islands; Hawaii, Santorin, and the Maldives. Now I just have to write a bestseller to finance all of this. That’s all… easy as pie. lol

    1. Hawaii would be lovely! 🙂 I can tell you from personal experience that Santorini is amazing! ♥ Ah yes, the financing. Just a “minor” detail. 😛 Thanks for visiting, Angelika.

    1. Thanks! 🙂 London was also interesting. I was there in the summer of 1969, during the “Carnaby Street” era. Was hoping to run into The Beatles, but no luck. 😉

  6. Mine is not a city. It is the country of Ireland. One of these days… I thought I was going to Athens this past summer for a ceremony, for a book I helped author, but the plane tickets never arrived. I suspect the project went a tad over budget. These things happen.

    1. Mine was the whole country of Greece, Mike, but the prompt said “City”, so I went with it. 😉 That said, it was an incredibly emotional moment to view the Acropolis in person. Lifelong dream come true! Ireland would be lovely in the summer. Hope you get there. What a pity you didn’t make it to Athens.

    1. We spent two weeks touring Greece – both the mainland and the southern islands. That first day in Athens was the most emotional moment of all. My life-long dream come true! 😀 Hope you get there as well, Nabanita.

  7. I would love to visit Greece. It’s so beautiful there. Thank you for sharing these pictures with us Debbie. I admire you for all your travels. I think it’s great that you got to see what a beautiful world we have and sharing it with those of us (me) 🙂 who are afraid to fly.

Have a fabulous weekend. I hope the weather is getting better for you.

    Cori

    1. Greece is a magical place, for sure, especially if you love ancient history as I do. 🙂 Glad you enjoyed the photos, Cori. Maybe someday you’ll get over that fear of flying and check it out in person. Thanks for visiting. Supposed to get milder by Tuesday.

  8. Would love to visit Athens too but not sure how I can participate in this prompt as all the cities I want to visit most I haven’t visited yet and hence can’t post my own picture. May have to get creative!

    1. Well. the prompt is just “City”. The bit about where you want to visit was something I added. 🙂 You could post photos of any city, Suzy.

  9. So many cities that I’d like to visit though I don’t know what the likelihood is that I’ll ever make it to any of them. I’d like to go to London or Paris or any of the great cities of Europe. Asian cities would be quite an adventure as well. I tease my wife about going to Havana one day. She says she has no interest in going, but I’m intrigued.

Athens is so historically significant I can understand why you would have wanted to see that city.

    1. London and Paris were fascinating too. I saw them in 1969 and 1967 respectively. Would love to go back sometime. The Paris Hotel in Vegas is a pretty cool imitation. 🙂 In hindsight, I deeply regret leaving Istanbul out of our Greek islands cruise itinerary (we did see Ephesus and that was incredible). It would have added two extra days and we were tightly scheduled. Havana sounds interesting and may come alive again, since the U.S. embargo has been lifted. Cuba has always been a popular vacation destination for Canadians; relatively inexpensive.

  10. Any time you mention Greece and your bucket list it puts a smile on my face, Debbie! I think about that often in regards to my own list…and life 🙂 Have a great weekend! 🙂

    1. Makes me smile too, Mike! 😀 Wish I could go back. I’ve enjoyed reading about your recent bucket list trip as well. Thanks for visiting.
