NATURE is this month’s L’il HooHaa’s Photo Blogging Challenge theme. The photos I’m sharing were shot at two different local parks on the same day; Sept, 18. Summer was still with us! Any day I can wear flip flops is a good day. 😀
Not that early Fall isn’t pleasant. The brightly-coloured foliage and crisp, clean air can be exhilarating. Come November, the weather turns bleaker and of course, there’s winter to “look forward” to. I dread it, but never mind.
We’re here to share images of Mother Nature’s bounty. Let’s get started!
1) Lake Ontario shoreline:
2) A gaggle of geese, enjoying the sunshine:
3) The harbour is still full of boats, even though the leaves are changing colour:
4) A tree growing sideways:
5) Cobblestone beach. Prior to the park’s development, this area was home to a clay pipe manufacturer.
Pipes left behind were eroded by waves, forming a shale beach with unique copper coloured stones:
6) Bonus photo!
Moose and wolf sculptures, fashioned by local artists, from modified concrete over structural steel frames.
Commissioned to raise awareness for the conservation of nature and its inhabitants:

Hi Debbie,
What a joy to be here today.
I am here today via a tweet by our common friend Harleena.
It is Indeed a great pleasure to see the eye capturing images.
I am a nature lover and a tree lover! 🙂
Amazing catch!
Love it!
Happy to join the challenge!
Keep informed.
Best Regards
~ Philip
Very nice, I like that first photo best.
Thanks, Amy. 🙂 Have a good weekend.
Wonderful collection of nature images. My favorites include the sculptures and the beach with eroded clay pieces – I’d love to see it in person! Have a beautiful day!
Thank you so much, Carol! 🙂 Yes, those clay rocks are striking, in person.
Can I breathe these in? They are gorgeous.
Thank you, Jacqui! 🙂 Photography is one of my biggest passions.
Debbie, you struck just the right balance with your words-to-photo ratio. Those are some fascinating tidbits you shared, especially about the clay pipe “stones” on the beach and the sculptures in the bonus photos.
PS – thanks for the tweet!
I’m glad you enjoyed the post, Denise! And, you’re welcome. 🙂
Like that gaggle of geese and the boats far away.
Welcome to The Den, Joe! 🙂 I’m glad you liked the photos. I stopped by your blog and see you were in my part of the world, recently. ?
What lovely shots! Autumn is my favourite season!
Thanks! 🙂 I like early Autumn, but it starts to get nasty around here, after that. 😛
If this is a contest, you just won, Debbie. These are gorgeous.
Thank you so much, Jacqui! 🙂 It’s a photo prompt, rather than a contest. Your kind words are the prize. ?
The Cobblestone picture, number five, is my favorite. All are exceptional.
You have the clearest lake water…
Thanks, Myke! 🙂 Yes, the lake looked good that day.
A great bunch of photos for this month! The shoreline one is very peaceful and I like those copper colored rocks. And I have no idea, but it always makes me laugh a little when I hear “gaggle of geese.” Maybe it’s just me…
Thanks, PJ! 🙂 Gaggle makes you giggle? Sorry, couldn’t resist. ?
Gorgeous images from our beautiful city Deb 🙂
I’m glad you liked them, DG! 🙂 Thanks for coming by.
I loved your collection of photos for this month’s challenge. The photo of the lake shoreline definitely makes me want to visit the Great Lakes sometime in the near future.
Thank you so much, Paul! 🙂 I’m sure you would enjoy wandering around this area. Cheers!
What a fantastic place to spend the day! Your photo captures are beautiful. I love the variegated stones and that sideways tree is amazing.
Thank you so much, Lisa! 🙂 The sideways tree sure is unique. I haven’t been to that park in years and wasn’t expecting to find anything out of the ordinary. It was a lucky day! 😀
Cool photos! Kinda curious how long the pipe factory had been shut down, that looked like some pretty smooth pieces…
The factory shut down in 1978, so it’s been over 40 years. That park has several points of interest. I was intrigued by the sideways tree, too. Thanks for coming by!
Hi Debbie from Georgia, USA! This is my first time visiting your site. I am fairly new (a couple of months) with the pic challenge from PJ. I love the water, and it draws me, soothes my soul and gives me joy. What a lovely park! I could see myself there everyday.
Welcome to The Den, Dawn! 🙂 I’ve only done a few of these myself, starting earlier this year. The photos were actually taken in two different parks, a few miles apart. I’d love to visit them more often, too, but our weather starts getting nasty after October. Thanks for coming by!
Always fun to stop here and read UP on your life. Thanks.
Thanks for coming by, Paul! 🙂
Wow, what great shots. They jump right off the page at you. You’re a whiz with a camera.
Have a fabulous day and week, Debbie. ♥
Thank you so much. Sandee! 🙂 I’ve been practicing for a few years now. Photography is one of my biggest passions.
Beautiful photos, Debbie! Thank you for sharing your trip in nature.
I’m glad you like them! 🙂 Thanks for coming by!
Dearest Deb,
Love your autumn shots. I always marvel at all the wonderful pictures you take. Thank you for taking me on an autumnal trip to Canada.
Sending you much love from our Indian autumn with this autumnal post:

Have a beautiful week ahead. Big love and big hugs. <3
Hi Natasha! I’m glad you enjoyed the photos. Thank you for the compliment! 🙂 Photography is a bit of an obsession. I enjoyed your night jasmine post, as well. Thanks for coming by! Sorry for the late response.
Thank you for taking me to Canada via this post. This fall is the first in forever that we’re not coming over, and I am a bit bummed. Love the first signs of Indian Summer, and I’m so happy you shared the bonus pictures. I have yet to encounter a bear in Canada. The only one I ever spotted was so very far away.
I’m glad you enjoyed the photos, Tamara! 🙂 You probably wouldn’t have liked visiting Alberta this time; they had a major snowstorm a few days ago! ? I’ve only seen bears, moose and wolves in zoos, myself. Thanks for coming by!
Debbie,
I’m torn between autumn and spring being my favorites, so I can’t pick just one. I like both for its welcome temperature change and color. It’s the end of September and we haven’t seen much of either but this will change I’d say within the next week or two. I love your photos – just beautiful landscape. The bent tree and gaggle of geese remind me of a time I took pictures of the lake on the other side of town. There’s a small marina with a park that’s often full of locals enjoying family outings and there are always ducks swimming in the water. I can’t recall now but there might have been some geese. I’ll have to pull up my archives to see now. Hmm… The cobblestone beach reminds me just a bit of Jasper Beach in Maine. The shore is lined with beach pebbles and when we walked on it, it sounded like potato chips crunching under our feet. 🙂 Have a great week, my friend!
We had summer weather when I took these photos, but it’s getting chillier now. I like early fall, but not what comes after! 😛 I’m glad you enjoyed the photos. I think there’s a duck in with the geese, as well. Thanks for coming by and apologies for the late response. Hubby had carpal tunnel surgery on his right hand and has been home, recovering. It’s nice that he’s around, for a change, but it means less time online. Have a good weekend!
Hi Deb, I’d love to get up to that area. Love the crooked tree and the moose/wolf sculptures. I bet it is pretty in the winter too 🙂 Havve a great new month coming up Deb.
Hi Lisa; You would probably enjoy it here, but the winters can be nasty. Thanks for coming by! Happy Fall to you. ?
SO beautiful… The Great Lakes have such a huge piece of my heart and I love all of the boats in the harbor. I could almost smell fall thru the computer screen! Breathtaking…
Thank you, Mimi! ♥ It was still summery when I took those, but fall is upon us, now.
These photographs are so good that I almost feel as if I have visited these places.
Love,
Janie
That is a supreme compliment, Janie. Thank you so much! ♥
