Welcome back! It’s time to announce results for the Dec. 1st BOTB post
BATTLE OF THE BANDS (BOTB), hosted by Far Away Series and StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands. is where you listen to different recordings of the same song and vote for the one you like best. Two “Battles” per month, on the 1st and 15th. Votes will be tallied and posted the following week.
This one pitted Washington prog-metal band, Queensrÿche
against Israeli-born, Tennessee-based blues rocker, Ori Naftaly and his band

The turnout for this contest was a bit skimpy, possibly due to the time of year or, could it be the technical problems that have been plaguing the site for a week? Any feedback about your user experience would be greatly appreciated. The Den was forced offline for a few hours overnight, shortly after the battle was published, but came back in the morning and all seemed well. Then, I was having another issue and changed the commenting system temporarily, which appeared to be working fine. I’ve gone back to the original system now, but with a different “anti-spam” program. No more checking silly boxes – yay! Hope it’s performing as it should. Anyway…..
THE WINNER IS:
THE ORI NAFTALY BAND
By a landslide!
This was a tough choice for me, as both versions were appealing, but in the end, my “hard rock heart” led the way to Queenrÿche. Some of you said you were going to vote for them, then changed your minds when you heard Ori’s version. Others had no use for Queensrÿche at all. Oh well, win some, lose some.
Here’s the winner once more, in a live performance:
Don’t forget to check back with the others, for their BOTB results:
Angels Bark / Book Lover / Cherdo On The Flipside / Curious as a Cathy / DC Relief BOTB / Far Away Series / Holli’s Hoots & Hollers / J.A. Scott / Janie Junebug Righting & Editing / Jingle Jangle Jungle / Mike’s Ramblings / Novel Brews / Quiet Laughter / Sound of One Hand Typing / StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands / Tossing It Out / / Your Daily Dose
HOSTS
I’ll soon be taking a break from blogging (after another post or two) until the new year, so the next BOTB at The Den will be on Jan 15, 2016. In case I don’t see you before then:
Was this the outcome you expected or were you surprised?
Did your favourite win?
Looking forward to your comments!
ROCK ON!

I missed this battle but wanted to wish you very happy holidays! See ya next time:-)
Thanks for dropping in, Diedre. 🙂 Happy Holidays to you, too!
Season’s Best, Debbie. I got the winner this time. You have a battle margin like mine. Still I enjoyed Ori Naftaly the most! See you on Dec. 15th!!
Ori ran away with this one! 🙂 He is good, so I don’t really mind, even though I voted for Queensrÿche.
I’ll be off for the next two BOTBs, but will see you again Jan. 15. Happy Holidays!
Not the result I was expecting. I picked the loser this time, but at least I agreed with you. That’s something anyway.
Same here, Jeffrey. I thought it would be much closer because I had a hard time choosing. Oh well! Ori was great, but Queensrÿche just had that extra something. Obviously, most people disagreed with us. Nice to see we were on the same side, anyway.
I was surprised when I saw you mention that I missed your BOTB because I remember it quite clearly. I voted for Queensryche. Sometimes comments disappear, but I don’t want you to think I ignored you. I appreciate your Christmas wishes. See you in January.
Love,
Janie
My apologies, Janie. It must have got lost during the technical malfunction. 🙁 Sadly, neither of our votes for Queensrÿche made any difference. Kudos to Ori for doing such a great job. 🙂
Happy Holidays. Hugs to your adorable pups.
Yay! I’m on the winning side. I’ve done pretty well picking winners on most sites in the recent round.
Hopefully your tech glitches will be resolved for now. I had to come back to this post today because yesterday I didn’t see anything here.
Have a great holiday season!

Ori won most people over and I might have voted for him too, on a different day. It was that close, for me. 🙂
Glad you’re having a good winning streak there, Lee. Because of the ongoing problems, I didn’t get this post up until much later in the day. So far, so good. Whew! Self-hosting a website is so damn complicated but an amazing learning experience. Getting better at it all the time. 🙂 I’ll probably do a photo post and a holiday post this week, then park the blog until January. So much to do now and my husband will be off work for the holidays. Merry Christmas to you and thanks again for introducing me to BOTB. Cheers!
Merry Christmas to you Debbie and all visitors here. Rock on !

Thanks, Angelika. 🙂 Fröhliche Weihnachten!
Gosh I missed it! I have been so busy lately with Christmas and all. Have a Merry Christmas!!
No worries, Birgit. 🙂 We are all in the same boat. Thanks for dropping in tonight.
Merry Christmas to you and your family. 🙂
I think rock and metal are generally hard to sell, Shady. 😛 That said, a few people were torn and enjoyed both versions, myself included. I’ll continue to follow posts from my favourite blogs, (yours is right up there!) time permitting, during the festivities and into the new year, even if I won’t be writing any myself. Thanks for the good wishes! It’s our favourite holiday and we’ll have a house full of 4-legged guests. 🙂 I hope you, Mrs. Shady and family have a wonderful time as well. Cheers!
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner !!!!
Congratulations to Ori Naftaly.
He and his band did a great job! On another day, I might have voted for them, because I was really torn. Thanks for dropping in, Myke. I’ll try and return the favour shortly. 🙂
