Today, I’m joining the We Are The World Blogfest (#WATWB), which posts on the last Friday of every month.
Started by Belinda Witzenhausen and Damyanti Biswas and aided by a series of co-hosts (⭐), their credo is to bring light into an otherwise dark world by sharing links to inspirational stories.
(⭐This month’s co-hosts: Sylvia Stein, Eric Lahti, Shilpa Garg, and Lizbeth Hartz)
We Are the World Blogfest seeks to promote positive news. There are many cases of love and light out there, stories that show compassion and the resilience of the human spirit. Sharing these stories increases our awareness of hope…
There’s a positive new trend happening in the restaurant industry.
It’s all about inclusion! Some shining examples:

Thanks for visiting my website, Debby. You are certainly a busy bee! I take it that you and Debby Gies are friends, both living in Toronto. I am impressed with your writing and traveling stats. Awesome!
Welcome to The Den, Marian! 🙂 Debby and I have only recently met online. Although we live about 30 miles apart (the Toronto area is massive!), we have not had the chance to meet in person, so far. Something to anticipate! Thank you for your kind words. I have been writing – and travelling – since childhood. Cheers!
Great! Meeting another writer named Debby is something to look forward to, although your names are spelled slightly differently. Thanks for the reply here.
Debbie, this is a wonderful thing – hiring those with disabilities to work in cafes and restaurants. It does not surprise me as some local grocery stores in our area have been hiring the disabled and people with autism for many years. I wasn’t able to post this month, but I have a similar story for next month about a restaurant in Japan. It does my heart good to see this happening. Thanks for sharing and participating in this month’s #WATWB.
Yes, I was thrilled to see people are doing this worldwide! ? Many stores in our area have similar hiring programs, but I’ve yet to see a café. Looking forward to your story about the Japanese restaurant. Thanks for coming by, Mary. 🙂
I’m so glad this idea is catching on! Great post!
Yes; it’s gaining ground, quickly. ? Thanks for coming by!
This concept is new to me. Good luck to those providing and participating.
It’s catching on around the world! ?
Awesome. This post made me smile. Thank you for that.
Have a fabulous day and weekend. ♥
I’m glad you enjoyed it, Sandee. Lots of good people in this world. 🙂
I’ve not heard of this, however, I feel this is an excellent idea! I hope it catches on big-time!
It seems to be gaining ground! 🙂 I was surprised how many examples I found, worldwide. This is a small sampling. Thanks for coming by, Eugenia.
This is inspirational Deb. I’ve read about these restaurants before coming together for this most wonderful effort of inclusion. 🙂
Yes; I was thrilled to see this is a worldwide endeavour. Thanks for coming by! 🙂
blooming marvellous and a wonderful #WATWB post thank you Debbie
Thank you, Susan! 🙂 It’s encouraging to know more and more such businesses are springing up around the world.
It’s so heartwarming to see so many restaurants promoting and practicing social inclusion and non-discrimination policy. They are leading from the front and inspiring change which is so desperately needed in today’s world. I have been to a cafe which is run by acid attack victims. Thanks for the inspiring and uplifting stories and videos, Debbie!
Yes, it’s wonderful to know this movement is worldwide! 🙂 It saddens me to read about the proliferation of acid attacks in your part of the world, Shilpa. 🙁 The current publicity will, hopefully, help in reducing these horrible incidents. Thanks for coming by!
