  1. Hi Debbie – I really enjoyed your video. Your home town looks absolutely beautiful – so many trees, and I love those fabulous old buildings. Makes me want to go travelling!

    1. It is a magical place, Sue and I was so thrilled that it was unchanged after all these years! You would love Germany. 🙂 It’s a very dog friendly country. My grandparents, parents and I went out to dinner every Sunday and took the dogs with us. They are welcome everywhere, there.

      1. Sounds heavenly, Debbie – some parts of the UK are okay, but I’ve been to some areas that aren’t very dog friendly at all. Maybe I should learn German and emigrate!

        1. German is a very difficult language. LOL People are required to learn English in school, so most of them do speak some, at least. 🙂

  2. Hey Debbie,

Sorry, I’m late here. Had your post bookmarked but now got the time to land.

Away from motherland for 40 years? That’s such a long time. I can’t think of leaving mine though. You must have noticed a

BIG change after all those years away. Did you? 🙂

Nice to see your home place and neighborhood. A very nice compilation with effects and frames 🙂 However, I’m not that

familiar with places in Germany though. What is the place shown at 2:19, Debbie? Sorry, I’m yet a wannabe traveler 🙂

You have a lovely week there dear!

    Cheers…

    1. Hi Mayura; Believe it or not, it was pretty much exactly the same as I remembered it. Old buildings are refurbished there, rather than replaced. Quite typical in Europe. 🙂 It’s a very historic town with Roman and medieval walls still intact. All photos were taken in my hometown, Soest, which is in the northwest of Germany, (province of Nordrhein Westfalen). The frame at 2:19 shows a metal statue in the downtown area. I hope you get to travel one day; it’s a wonderful experience. 🙂 Thanks for visiting. Cheers!

  3. Beautiful Debbie,

I really love your video with the music and beautiful pictures of your home country. That’s really beautiful and the sky is just so perfect blue. What more to ask for?

I remember reading your post about going back home. It’s always a good thing to go back home, I know 🙂

    1. Glad you enjoyed it, Sylviane! 😀 It was such a thrill to go home again, after all those years. We had beautiful, hot summer weather at the time. Thanks for visiting and have a good weekend. 😀

  4. Good to see you got to get back – after 41 years. I can only imagine how that must have felt… Awesome!

    1. Hi Jan; Yes, it was a Bucket List item and I’m so happy to have made it back there! Even happier to see that everything was still pretty much the same. Thanks for visiting and have a good weekend. 🙂

    1. Hi Steve; Yeah; not far. I visited London in 1969, when I was living in Germany. 🙂 Loved it! You have a great rest of the week too and thanks for the return visit. Cheers!

  5. Happy Wednesday Debbie!

That’s an awesome video! My daughter has been invited to go to Germany for her Senior year. I have some reservations about that because it’s so far away but now that I’m looking at your video here I know it will be a wonderful experience.

I admire that you got to travel and see this beautiful world we have.

Happy Wednesday Debbie! Have a wonderful day my dear!

    1. Hi Corina; Travelling to different parts of the world is SO educational and I bet your daughter would love Germany! It was such a thrill to revisit my birthplace and I was happy that it hadn’t changed much after all those years. Thanks for visiting and Happy Thursday to you! 🙂

  6. Oh my gosh! We’ve been following each other criss-crossing across the blogosphere for a while now, Debbie. I somehow missed your October post and sorry about that. I did go back and read it. Because Germany (and Tahiti) have been my #1 bucket list travel destinations all of my life! I have studied the European Theater of WWII with great fascination (not to be misunderstood with admiration) and that’s when I became completely infatuated with Germany and it’s part in history. One of my very first trips that I’m still working on is a Band of Brothers tour (or similar). This was a lovely video and thank you so much for sharing! 🙂

    1. Hi Mike; Apologies, but it seems I missed your comment! Thanks so much for visiting. I really appreciate your taking the time. You would love Germany; the history, the architecture, the scenery – all of it. Hope you’re a meat eater though, because that’s there culinary specialty. Excellent bread and cheese too though and they’ve greatly improved on the wine. Of course, the beer is the best! 😀 My mother and her parents survived WWII in Germany, (lots of hair-raising stories there!) and were totally opposed to the Nazi regime. Glad you enjoyed the video of my birthplace. Cheers!
