ROCKCHICK RAPTURE: QUEENSRŸCHE with SCORPIONS

30 Comments#WordlessWednesday, Music, Photography, Rockchick Ramblings

We had a fantastic time at the Scorpions 50th Anniversary concert in Toronto on Sept. 18.
Opening act Queensrÿche did a great job warming up the crowd.
It was a magical night and I’m still on a concert high!

  1. Back when “still loving you” was a number one hit, I didn’t even know the Scorpions were almost my neighbours ;-)))

  2. Oh, Scorpions – Im sure that was great! Like them too. Great concerts: outdoor in Greek summers- when everyone is singing along. Also a Sting concert I went too, was awesome:-) Love live music

    1. It was fantastic, Eli! 😀 My favourite album of theirs was recorded live in Athens at the Odeon Herodicus Atticus. Too bad there were no concerts going on during our visit there in 2013. Live music is magical, for sure! I bet Sting put on a great show, too.

  3. Hi!
I’ve have 6 concerts on my bucket list.
I’ve seen 2 of them: Madonna & Cher.
And I think Mr. Liverpool may have a birthday surprise for another one: JANET JACKSON!!!!!!!!!! I hope so.
My others are Prince, Tina Turner, & U2!
    OH, and LADY GAGAAAAAAAAAAAA!
    xxxxx KISSSSSSSSSSSS

    1. Hi Kim; Cher puts on a great show, doesn’t she? We saw her a few times in the 70s and 80s, with and without Sonny. Madonna is a mad woman and I can imagine her concerts are great fun! 😀 Here’s hoping you’ll be able to fulfill that bucket list. I have one band left to cross off – METALLICA! Dammit it all, they never come to Toronto, but they’re always going to Quebec and Europe. Good excuse for a trip! 😉

    1. Well, it’s never too late, Yolanda! 😀 We didn’t go to many concerts in our younger days but are making up for it, now. Thank goodness our favourite old bands are still going strong.

  4. The last time I was on a concert high, was after attending a concert in the Munich Olympic Stadium, a couple of years ago. They presented various artists, including Tina Turner and Joe Cocker. I know that is the coolest feeling, and it truly stays with you for a long time. You got me going, and just this morning I checked through our newspaper for concerts. The only difference being is that I look for blues, jazz, swing, guitar, Russian, and/or Greek music. But a concert high remains a concert high,.. no matter what the source.  So happy for you that you had a great time. And you put in some great photos in your slide show! I love enthusiastic people… It’s so contagious! Yooohey!

    1. That sounds like an amazing concert, Angelika! 🙂 Never had the pleasure of seeing either Tina Turner or Joe Cocker live. Hope you find a show to your liking. Don’t you love the electricity generated by the crowd? 😀 I do enjoy those other genres you mentioned, just not to the same extent as rock. 😉 It makes me feel so young and vital!
      Zum Wohl!

  5. Hi Shady; A few concerts, you say? That’s an impressive list! Cinderella opened for Scorpions last time we saw them, in 2010. Meeting KISS must have been fun. Gene Simmons is such a hoot! I used to watch his reality show. Glad you got to interview Eric Carr, What a tragedy his premature death was. 🙁

How exciting to meet so many of your favourites over the years. You sure had some interesting jobs. Peter Noone gets around, doesn’t he? 🙂

Thanks for checking out my concert album. Have a great rest of the week.

  6. I am glad you enjoyed yourself and I know of someone else who likes their music. I have not been to many concerts. The last one was many years ago-I saw the Barenaked Ladies and enjoyed them. Otherwise I go for classical music:)

    1. Hi Birgit; I know you’re not a rock music fan, so thanks for taking the time to comment, anyway. 🙂 The Barenaked Ladies must have been fun! I like some classical music as well, but in limited amounts. My childhood included visits to the ballet, symphony and opera.

  7. Two of my favorite bands! Doesn’t the new singer of Queensryche sound like the former…better if you ask me because he hits those high notes. We’ve seen Queensryche with the new singer three times now and won’t miss the next show either. I’ve never seen the Scorpions but the hubs has.

We’ve been going to concerts since we got together and before that when we were teens. My first concert, I was 14 yrs old. I saw Judas Priest and Krokus. 🙂

Thanks for sharing the pics Debbie. Looks like it was a great show!

    Cori

    1. Hi Cori; Todd La Torre has a fabulous, powerhouse voice! I would absolutely see Queenrÿche as a headlining act and I’ve pre-ordered the new CD. It comes out on Oct. 2. Scorpions always put on a great show and the sets are so much fun too, as the pictures show.

You and I share a love for concerts. Judas Priest with Krokus must have been awesome! My first was Three Dog Night in 1971. We didn’t get to that many when we were younger and are making up for lost time. Thank goodness our old favourites are still going strong!

Glad you enjoyed the slideshow. Thanks for dropping by. 🙂

  8. I haven’t been to many significant concerts in the past couple of decades. I used to enjoy concerts and went to many–too many to list here or maybe for me to remember. Now I avoid crowds as much as I can and don’t go out around town too much. Can’t really afford concerts anyway.

    1. I bet you saw some great shows over the years, Lee! 🙂 There’s not one that stands out for you? I know what you mean about crowds. They make me somewhat claustrophobic, but I’m willing to brave them only for a rock concert. 😉 Granted, prices are totally insane these days, but we were busy doing other things in our younger years. Now we’re making up for lost time. Good thing our favourite old bands are still going strong!

  9. WOW! What a night indeed! Concerts are high on my list of awesome stuff to do—and, sadly, probably in the top three things I miss, living here in Curaçao. Few concerts happen here… At least few I can get excited about, haha. Salsa and merengue singers come all the time, and they can be fun to see, but… You know what I mean. I do understand, though; this island has 150,000 inhabitants. In Mexico City, the Estadio Azteca tops out at 100,000… Two or three concert dates there and the band’s done good. Curaçao, on the other hand, not only doesn’t have the millions to fill a stadium (if it even had a stadium half as big), but it’s so far away and it’s so difficult to travel here, that if I were any big performer it’d take some serious convincing to come. So I rock out vicariously… Through generous souls like you who share, through YouTube, through magazine articles… It’s rough, this island life 😉

    1. Hi Guilie; Tough break about the lack of concerts in Curaçao. I would miss them too! (Yeah – rough life. 😉 We’re heading into winter and I would gladly spend a couple of months down there.) Like you, going to concerts is one of my favourite activities and luckily, Toronto is a real “Music Mecca”. Everybody comes here. (Except Metallica, dammit!) What a blast it must be at Estadio Azteca; such a huge capacity! That’s unusually large, though. The venue we were at holds a max. of 16,000. I think the biggest stadium is about 50,000.

Glad you enjoyed the photos. Rocking out vicariously is better than not doing it at all. 🙂 Thanks for visiting.
