NO MILK TODAY – #BOTB RESULTS

23 CommentsBattle of the Bands (BOTB), Blogfests, Music

Welcome back! It’s time to announce results for the Sept. 1 BOTB post
Officially, I’m on vacation, but I didn’t want to leave you in suspense.
Apologies if I’m unable to complete the usual rounds.

Battle of the Bands BOTB Knockin' on Heaven's Door

BATTLE OF THE BANDS (BOTB), hosted by Far Away Series and StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands. is where you listen to different recordings of the same song and vote for the one you like best. Two “Battles” per month, on the 1st and 15th. Votes will be tallied and posted the following week.

This one pitted German technopop group, Royal Gigolos
against American folk singer, Joshua James.

I purposely chose two covers that were completely different from the original and each other, just to keep things interesting. At first, there was no clear-cut frontrunner, but then the votes for Joshua came fast and furious. Personally, I find the Technopop/Electronica/Dance/House Music genre unpleasant and annoying, (what do you expect from an old “rockchick”? 😉 ), but to each their own. My vote for Joshua proved unnecessary in declaring this major victory.

AND THE WINNER IS:

JOSHUA JAMES

By a whopping 76%!

If the objective of these battles is to keep them close, then I’m failing miserably.
This is the second such blowout and most of my other matchups had wide margins as well.
Better luck next time!

Here’s the winner once more, with a bonus video, also from the Sons of Anarchy soundtrack.

  1. I was a little surprised by this vote. Not so much who won, but by how much they won.
As for blowouts, don’t worry. My winner was quite decisive this time around.
PS – Yes, I am human and not a spambot, despite forgetting to tic that box time and time again. LOL

  2. Hi Debbie,
I’m not surprised at the outcome, but I won’t gloat 😉
Such a gorgeous area to be kicking around in, I hope you’ll share some pictures 🙂
Niagara falls is 45 minutes from your home? Gads, out here we’re grateful when the
    rivers actually run – ha!
    Happy Trails…

  3. I chose the nutty German one-hahahaa-I knew they wouldn’t win:) Have a great time and I have done that round many years ago (round Ontario that is). Will you got to the Eastman House in Rochester? This is one of the finest places in the world in keeping silent tfilms

    1. I knew they wouldn’t win, but didn’t think they would lose by this much! 🙂 Oh well, the next one should be more of a “real” contest.

We are looking forward to getting away. Unfortunately, we’ll be hitting Rochester on the way back, Monday and the museum is closed then. We’re staying in Seneca Falls for two nights, so maybe we could head out that way on Sun. (about an hour’s drive). Depends on how much time there is to spare. We have no firm plans for that part of the trip. Just “winging it”.

  4. Have a wonderful trip, I am so envious. A trip of any kind right now would be so appreciated! Hubby’s June vacation was cancelled, or rather delayed, and I’m still waiting.
Love the results of BOTB’s though!

    1. Thanks, Yolanda. My busiest times are summers, school holidays and weekends, so now it’s my turn. 🙂 Hubby didn’t take any time off this summer either. I hope you are able to get away soon, yourself. The BOTB result was more lopsided than I thought it would be.

  5. Nice bonus track! Thanks for sharing! I’m glad Joshua won! Don’t worry about how your battle shakes out. You just can never tell. Mine was pretty much a landslide this time too. The bottom line is that it’s fun and that’s all that really matters. 🙂

    1. I knew you’d like the result and the extra video, Michele. 🙂 I agree; fun is the biggest objective with these battles and they’re my favourite recurring feature. The next one should be a little closer, but one never knows, really. Thanks for dropping in and have a great week.

  6. Hey Debbie, first up…have fun on vacation! Thanks for sharing the outcome of your latest BOTB. I’m on a real roll here. I’m making my follow-up visits today and so far all of my picks have won. Now, that’s something that doesn’t happen often. 😀 Be safe and have a tunetastic week!

    1. Blowouts are fairly common here, it seems, but I think the next battle will be tighter. Congrats on getting a tie for yours!
Thanks for the good wishes. We are looking forward to getting away.

  7. Some neighbourhood teenagers like to blast that stuff at full volume from their car stereos. Drives me nuts! 😛
Metallica you say? Gee, I hadn’t thought of that! 😉

Thanks for your good wishes, Shady. We’re looking forward to our little road trip. I think you’re a bit out-of-the-way for a visit, this time. 🙂 Niagara Falls is only 45 minutes from home and we’ve been dozens of times, but we may stop there for lunch on the way back.

I’ll be sure and check out your post, even if it is a couple of days late. Appreciate the advance notice. Cheers!

  8. No surprise to me as to the outcome on this one. It is as it should have been. Still not a bad Battle. Being close is not necessarily the mark of a good Battle. It indicates something, but offhand I’m not sure what. Audience maybe?

I envy your trip. What a great area to be traveling and a nice time to do it. Have a great time! (as though you wouldn’t).

    1. I was expecting Joshua to win, but not by such a wide margin. I know lots of people like the “Techno” style of music, but, obviously not many here – myself included. 🙂 Stephen was tearing his hair out and couldn’t even finish listening to it. LOL The next one should be a closer battle.

Thanks for your good wishes, Lee. This is the perfect time to travel, I think. The kids have all gone back to school and the weather’s still warm. 🙂 We’ve been to Gananoque before (1000 Islands) and it’s beautiful! I’m really looking forward to checking out Seneca Falls, NY for the first time. Apparently, it is the real-life model for Bedford Falls, from the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”. Niagara Falls never gets old either, although we’ve been there dozens of times (only 45 minutes away from home).

      1. Ironically, just last night my wife and I were reminiscing about a trip several years back where we visited Seneca Falls. We drove around the area to see some of the Amish folk riding in their carriages. We also visited some museum that included a lot of things about the women’s rights movement. Apparently Seneca Falls played a big role back around the 1870’s or so with women’s rights–that is if I’m remembering correctly.

        Arlee Bird

        1. I didn’t realize there were Amish in the area. I hope we get to see some of the carriages. 🙂 The Seneca Falls website did mention the women’s movement and the museum, which I’m eager to see as well.
