Welcome back! It’s time to announce results for the Mar. 1st BOTB post

Battle of the Bands BOTB MY GENERATION

BATTLE OF THE BANDS (BOTB), hosted by Far Away Series and StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands. is where you listen to different recordings of the same song and vote for the one you like best. Two “Battles” per month, on the 1st and 15th. Votes will be tallied and posted the following week.

This one pitted American supergroup, Hollywood Vampires
against Italian blues/rock band, Slow Feet

This sure was an interesting battle! At first, it appeared that Slow Feet might win by a large margin, but slowly, the votes for Hollywood Vampires started coming in. (It doesn’t hurt to have Johnny Depp in the lineup. 🙂 ) I was happy to have found two covers that were so different in style. The Vampires mirrored the original while Slow Feet put an interesting jazzy/blues spin on it, which I liked a lot. Still, I had to go with Johnny, Alice, Joe et al. That song was such a significant part of my youth and they were faithful to The Who’s version.

For the second time!

#BOTB results, The Who, My Generation

  1. I’m a bit of a wet blanket on artists who jump out of their original claim-to-fame and try something different. This song was an exception – I really like the Hollywood Vampires’ version and that’s at least two that I picked that were winners. It’s like the planetary alignment has completely changed.

    Thanks, Debbie!

  2. Glad you had a good time at the convert.
Always hurts to have a tie, but I think it hurts a little less than having a song run away with the competition.
Wow, your upcoming line-up is beginning to look like my upcoming line-up. I may have to cancel the weekend and just work on my blogging.
I like the My Life According To… challenge. Looks fun. I shall try to get to it if possible.
So much to blog, so little time. And April right around the corner!!!

  3. Great battle! It is always neat to have a tie even though I did not go with Johnny Depp. I look at the Who and they got grey hair:)They are still one of the coolest around

    1. This is the second time I’ve had a tie. What are the odds, I wonder? I have grey hair too, as did much of the audience at The Who concert. 🙂 Roger Daltrey looks amazing for 72. Pete still does his signature “windmill” move and he’s 70. Rock and roll keeps you young at heart. 😀

    1. It might happen again; one never knows. 🙂 This is the second time I’ve had a tie. Jeff Healey and Steppenwolf were also co-winners for “Hoochie Coochie Man”.

  4. Congrats on the tie!! That’s really exciting. I love when the results come out like that. That was a good battle!
Loved the pics from the Who show. I bet that was just fabulous and fun! Glad you had a blast…

    1. Not what I expected, Michele. 🙂 Slow Feet came out strong, but the Vampires caught up later on. The Who always put on a great show. Hard to believe it’s been 50 years since they started. Glad you enjoyed the photos.

  5. Hi, Debbie the Doglady!

You gotta be kidding! A tie is the best possible outcome in a band battle, and finishing with a tie score is about as easy as rolling boxcars in a dice game 10 times in a row. In the early going it looked like Slow Feet would run away with it. My first instinct was to vote for the H-wood Vampires but, as I reported in my original comment, I allowed Slow Feet to gain a toehold and, by song’s end, they had a leg up on the Vamps.

WAY – TO – GO – Debbie! This was a great battle!

    1. I forgot to mention that I envy you for getting to see another A-list rock show – The Who, no less. Did they sing “Magic Bus,” “Pinball Wizard,” “Won’t get Fooled,” “Squeeze Box,” “Happy Jack,” “Who Are You” (theme from CSI)” and “I Can See For Miles”? Most importantly, I’m glad you felt up to going to the show and didn’t suffer a setback as a result. Have a great week, dear friend Debbie!

      1. We are lucky to be living in “Music Mecca”. All the big rock acts come here (except Metallica, dammit! 🙁 ). Toronto has three huge venues and several smaller ones. The city of Hamilton, about the same distance from our suburb in the other direction, has a couple of good concert halls as well.

No “Squeezebox”, but they played the rest. We had a great night and I felt fine. 😀 It was a belated birthday celebration since I was sick on the actual date. Thanks for all your care and concern, Shady. Have a good week.

I heard that Toronto is one of the stops on Pat Boone’s 2016 “Back In a Metal Mood” world tour.

          BE THERE! 🙂

    2. I was a bit surprised at the outcome, Shady. It looked liked Slow Feet had a lock on this, early on. I like their version a lot, but in the end, it was the Vampires who triggered that nostalgic, emotional response. 🙂 Ties are pretty rare, but this is the second time I’ve had one. Glad you enjoyed the battle!

  6. If the live versions had been presented I would have probably gone with the Vampires since I was mostly voting for the electric violin in the studio version.

Nice even outcome for a good match-up.
