Welcome to

♫ Music Monday ♫

animated band

For this edition, we’re going back about 50 years, to that music era known as the “British Invasion”.
This is a continuing series.

The British Invasion was a phenomenon that occurred in the mid-1960s when rock and pop music acts from the United Kingdom, as well as other aspects of British culture, became popular in North America.  The arrival of The Beatles in the U.S., and subsequent appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, (1964) marked the start of the British Invasion. – Wikipedia

Fronted by Reg Presley, they were from the town of Andover in southern England and originally called the Troglodytes.  Other band members: Chris Britton (Lead guitar), Pete Staples (Bass guitar) and Ronnie Bond (Drums).

And, of course, who doesn’t know this one? 😀

CRANK IT UP!!

  1. Ok you totally had me dancing in my seat I love the song wild Thing it’s one of my all time favorites. thank you for the dance.

  2. I got a HUGE smile on my face when I saw The Troggs in the title to the post, Debbie! Wild Thing…woo hoo!! 🙂 And brought famously back to life in the movie “Major League” with Charlie Sheen 🙂

    1. Glad you enjoyed the post, Mike. Sorry for the late response. I do remember the movie and loved the use of “Wild Thing” in it. The first song was in the movie “Love, Actually” – converted into a Christmas tune. 8|
Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend. Hugs to Phoenix ♥

  3. Excellent choice (well I would say that seeings I am British heheh!) but seriously I was a big fan of The Troggs growing up, It’s a shame Reg Presley died last year.

They show the old Ed Sullivan shows on one of our Satellite channels every weekend here I love em 😉

Have a troggtastic week sorry I am late btw 😉

    1. I hadn’t heard about Reg Presley’s passing, Steve. How sad! 🙁
I’m late responding too, so no worries!
Those old Ed Sullivan shows sure are fun to watch, here too.
Thanks for dropping by and have a great weekend. 🙂

  4. I’ve always loved the song ‘Wild Things’ but never knew who did it! Thanks for enlightening me! 😉 Love your choices! And when I’m not being pestered, I’ll leave a voicemail on another day… You have fair warning! 😉

  5. On the first song, I kept thinking they were going to break into a chorus of “Crystal Blue Persuasion,” but upon doing a YouTube search, I realized I was way off. Now, Wild Thing, that’s a great one!

  6. Sorry, my microphone done pooped out! Anyway, I remember these guys! Very English indeed, but I did like their music on the radio. These are some of their best too! Thanks for sharing. You’re definitely rockin’ the house! Thanks for joining us! Have a rockin’ week! 🙂

  7. Oh yeah, The Troggs! I didn’t recognize them by name, but then I saw Wild Thing and knew who they were. I use to sing this song to my daughter when she was a tot and she thought it was funny…or maybe she thought I was funny for singing it so silly to her. She would giggle and smile as big as the moon at me. Really adorable, I tell you. That was 25 years ago, but every time this song pops in my head I think of my cute as a button baby. 🙂

    1. Thanks Naila! 🙂 It’s late, but I’ll listen to it and respond tomorrow. It is fun, isn’t it? 😀 You’re only the third person to ever use it though. I guess most people find it too complicated.

  8. I LOVE the Troggs!!! Wow, I forgot about them. Such great songs. Memories!!! Hey, what are the rules and criteria for Music Monday blog hop? Is there a weekly theme? How does it work? I couldn’t find any general information about it. I might want to participate… Thanks for making my Monday, starting my week off with Trogg songs! Love it!

    1. Nostalgia is a wonderful thing, yes? 😀 Glad you enjoyed this, Michele. Music Monday is a weekly “blog hop”, hosted by Lady Java, (#1 on the link list). I like it, because, there usually aren’t that many participants, so it’s fairly easy to visit and comment on the others. You choose your own theme or no theme, whatever you like. Grab the code for the linky from Lady Java’s site and put it at the bottom of your post. Once you have published your post, add your link to the list and then go back to Lady Java and leave a comment under her post. (If you don’t, your link will be deleted – that’s fair, I think). Then, the idea is to visit and comment on as many other blogs as you can. I also add the second link up (click on the image to view Monday’s Music Moves Me) and comment on the hosts’ and however many other blogs I have time for. You don’t necessarily have to add that second link up. Clear as mud? 😉 Feel free to ask any questions, if you’re confused.

  9. Debbie – I loved the Troggs!! And one of my all-time favorite movies “Love Actually” plays their Love is All Around song, so it’s often running through my head. Ahh the memories 🙂

    1. You too? “Love Actually” is my favourite Christmas movie and Bill Nighy is such a hoot as the old rock star. 😀 You’ll recognize this:
