ARCHITECTURE:

I had the opportunity to return to my birthplace in Germany last fall.  It’s an ancient town, dating back to Roman times and still has medieval walls surrounding it.  Best of all, the old buildings have been wonderfully preserved.  Such amazing architecture!

  4. The Town Hall was my favourite. You know one of the reasons I love Adelaide is because it still has a lot of the old buildings still standing. Alas over time they seem to be coming down and I find that to be a tragedy. They just have so much more character than some of those new fan dangle buildings.

    1. Hi Peter; Yes, the town hall is quite an architectural masterpiece. In Germany, most buildings are refurbished and preserved, rather than torn down. It’s a shame to lose all that heritage to so-called progress. 😛 Thanks for visiting.

    1. Glad you enjoyed the pics, Beloo. If you click on the town name, it brings up a video I made from all the photos. Thanks for dropping by. 🙂

  5. As you know I just MELT anytime you mention anything about Germany, Debbie! The architecture of the houses and buildings of “old” Europe always fascinate me and this put a big smile on my face! Thank you 🙂

    1. Glad you enjoyed the photos, Mike. I hope you get to Germany one day. It is a beautiful place and you’d LOVE the beer. So good! Thanks for visiting.

  6. Hi Debbie,

Thanks for sharing the pictures. I would love to live in small, quaint town like this. The city so busy and too fast-paced for me. Happy Friday! Have a great weekend!

    1. Hi Corina; That’s why we live in the suburbs. Close enough to go into the city whenever we want, but away from all the hustle and bustle (and crime). 🙂 Sorry for the late response. Have a good rest of the week.

  7. How I wish I could have gone to Germany while my dad was still alive. I would have loved to have seen and touched my heritage. Thank you for these wonderful pictures as I imagined what that would have been like to be there with him.

    1. Hopefully you’ll still get a chance to go to Germany, Carol. It is beautiful there. I was so happy to see that little had changed in my hometown.

    1. Yes, I love it there and was so happy to see everything was pretty much the same as it was when I left, back in 1969. Thanks for visiting and have a good weekend. 🙂

    1. Glad you enjoyed the photos, Pheno. Europe is full of stunning architecture. Thanks for visiting and have a good weekend. 🙂

    1. It’s a beautiful old town. Michele! 🙂 I was so thrilled to see everything was exactly the same as I remembered it. Thanks for visiting and have a good weekend.
