Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors’

8 Sentence Sunday Blog Hop

Here’s something a little different for my last post until October, (read why below).  This is a story I wrote for a #55Fiction challenge, (only 55 words allowed) and just by coincidence, it happens to be 8 sentences long.

sad manShe slammed the door in his face.  How dare he? Sarah was livid!  Jake had walked out months before to be with someone else and now he wanted to come back.  What did he take her for?  A doormat?  She looked through the peephole and saw him standing there.  He was crying and she melted.

“Often called “micro” or “nano” fiction 55 fiction is the art of creating a complete short story in exactly 55 words, no more, no less.  Not an essay, not a poem, not a bunch of random thoughts, no musings. Just a potent piece of pure fiction that you’ve dexterously composed in 55 words.”

Thanks for dropping by.

Comments and helpful critiques always welcome.

As mentioned, this is my last post until October.  Hubby and I will be vacationing in Europe for the month of September, in celebration of our 4oth anniversary.  There’s so much to do in preparation, plus we’ll be otherwise occupied once we get there.  Can’t wait! 😀  Click on the image if you’d like to see specifics of where we’re going:

40th anniversary trip

WeWriWa has been a wonderful experience and I’ve enjoyed meeting so many excellent writers.  Hope to connect with you all again in the Fall.

Until then, have fun!

    1. Glad you liked the post, Stevie. My last time in Italy was 1990; Germany I haven’t seen since 1972 and have never been to Greece. That’s my dream come true! 🙂 Thanks for visiting and have a good weekend. 🙂

  1. Love your stories Debbie! Have a wonderful, wonderful trip with your hubby! That is just exciting and I can’t wait to take off with my sweetie like that…come on empty-nest LOL. Have fun and share pics please :)!

    1. Thanks Corina. 😀 We are very excited but also a bit overwhelmed at this point. So much to do before we go! That’s why I don’t have much time to be online these days. Apologies for not making the usual rounds. Will definitely take lots of pictures. Have a great day.

  2. No, don’t give in! Even if he’s sincere, what’s to stop him from doing it again?

Cool concept–I’m not sure I could pick an exact word count and stay with it.

  3. Wow, that is the mark of a disciplined writer. That is excellent! Like Marcia said, some questions (but that’s good) yet it stands on its own. I struggle with Thursday Threads which allows 250 words! Fantastic, Debbie.

I hope you have a great time. We’ll miss you! <3

    1. Thanks Teresa. 🙂 It was my first attempt and I’m sure I could do better with practice. Nice to be missed and I look forward to participating again in the fall. ♥

    1. Either he’s sincere and wants her back that badly, OR, it’s just a ploy. We’ll never know, because of the 55 word contraint. 🙂 Thanks for visiting, Sue.

  4. aww, this is great. Raises a lot of questions but hangs together on its own. I’m impressed by people who can do that! And wishing you guys the very best on your trip. Stay safe, have a blast, take photos at Santorini and Ephesus for me, lol! 😀 😀

    1. It was a difficult exercise, Marcia and my first attempt. Glad to know it holds up. 🙂 Thanks for the good wishes. We will be taking plenty of photos, for sure. Cheers!

  5. Oh, Sarah. Don’t give in so easily! Stay strong! 😀 Debbie, I hope you and your husband have a fabulous time in Europe for your 40th! I’ll miss you and look forward to your return! 🙂
